The youth players/on-loan thread 2016-17

Ball wasnt someone who many of us had any hopes of 12 months ago, but last year really launched his career. Shows that some of these loans do pay off, both for the player and (to a lesser extent in this case) for us. I assume we'll have agreed that we get a % of any future profit which they make on him, so for us its realistically the best thing for us - cant see how he would have got any game time this year

It's also part of our responsibility to give these kids the best opportunities we can

We lost it 0-2. Sounds similar to the senior game on the weekend but back to front with our lads dominating the first half, but not getting the all important opener.

Interesting part about that link was:
Meanwhile, Palace have England U16 international Nya Kirby on trial following his decision to turn down an offer of a scholarship from Spurs. He has previously trialled with Arsenal and Chelsea but no deal was agreed with either club.

A lot on here were upset on here when he turned down a contract so it odd that Arse and Chelsea did not sign him either, maybe an attitude problem.

It's a big problem with kids and their families, they see all this big money and a lot of clubs are prepared to pay it for possible talent. There's a 9 year old at my grandsons school who parents are planning what they are going to do with the money he's going to get.

Wonder if that Kirby lad will end up back here having seen the grass isn't quite as green as it seemed elsewhere

He wants to go to a club where he thinks he'll progress quickly, he's already appeared for Palace's u23s whereas for us, Arsenal or Chelsea he'd be playing u18s for the most part.
