The Goon Thread - Officially Second In A One Horse Race

There is a pretty stubborn refusal to learn, isnt there?

They have had persistent issues, and persistently refused to address them. Instead focusing on areas of strength to make marginal (if any) gains.

Wenger lacks vision. That is why Fergie was always better.

Fergie removed himself from the intricacies of coaching. He sat one step above, over seeing, watching, making sure things were right. He was able to have a vision of what should be because he was high enough to see everything. And over the years he shuffled his coaches to reach his aims. He developed a number of excellent sides as a result. That re-generation of teams is probably his greatest achievement IMO.

Then people compare Wenger to him. Aside from longevity any comparison is laughable.
That's why it was fantastic (for us) that he signed for another 2 years.

It's important for many of us to cement a lasting power shift in North London. Most of our lives we have played second best to that lot.

With our uncertainty of two stadium moves, to have arsenal and Wenger stagnating down the road, allows us, with the Levy/Poch dream team just to keep on rising, navigating us thru all the tricky unknowns to a place where it's all plain sailing.

Arsenal have a broken mast, fudged navigation, a crew with scurvy and a captain that is sun blind.

Let's hol' em below the water line...me hearties.

They fink they gotta cannon. Wait til they see our beautie.

Manchester United have not made a move for Mesut Ozil - but are one of three clubs the Germany star would be willing to leave Arsenal for, according to a source close to the player.

MEN Sport understands Arsenal have not completely given up hope of extending the 29-year-old's contract, which expires in the summer, but do not want to hand him a sizable wage hike.

Ozil currently earns £154,000-a-week and wants that sum increased by 30% to £202,000-a-week to make him one of the Premier League's highest earners.

A bizarre sticking point is that Ozil also wants to wear the club's No.10 shirt, which has been assigned to Jack Wheelchair ever since the German's £42.5m move from Real Madrid in 2013, and there has been no progress on a new deal since the last round of talks in March.

It is understood Ozil would leave Arsenal for just three clubs - United, Barcelona and Real Madrid - and he would not be interested in a move to Italy or Turkey.

But MEN Sport understands United have not shown an interest and, contrary to reports, Ozil has not told his team-mates he is leaving for Old Trafford.

Same reason I never turned pro.

I eagerly await the many articles gushing about Whinger's Kids and how he has groomed a new crop of young limbs into the sleek and silky ways of L'Arse.

guardian report made me laugh, header used the phrase “fairy tale”

10 years ago they were winning leagues and getting to CL finals

but now it’s apparently a fairy tale to score a goal in a meaningless game against non PL opposition

So being a newer Spurs fan Im surrounded by a bunch of ignorant Gooners who love to say "you will always live in Arsene's shadow" "we have the perfect season" "13 premier league titles" on and on and on. What are your favorite counters to these fools? just because our trophy case is a bit scanty right now.

Walk away, Renée. There is no rationalization to be had with these ignorant fools. Leave them to their warped sense of reality and their rotten, fetid, corrupt 'club'.

Anybody who needs to use the success of the football team that they happen to support to make them feel good about themselves is clearly somebody you should feel sorry for.

I mean you could out-trump them by saying "yeah but I support Man Utd" but what would be the point of that? The football team that you were born into has no bearing on your own success (or lack of) as an individual.
