Initially very down on how we played but I rewatched the second half and we were much better than I remembered.

Really disappointed with the defeat but not at all surprised ! We started poorly but finished strongly. In fact, we actually outplayed Liverpool for the last 15 minutes of the match. We could have got at least a draw or even won if it we had been more clinical in front of goal during that time. I think Mourinho got his team selections wrong. We should have started with Lamela and Lo Celso. We only looked good after Lamela came on in the second half. Mourinho should have at least bought on Lamela early in the second half instead of late in the match.

Our attack looked toothless for most of the match without Kane. We didn't look like scoring until late in the match. We did create a few chances which we should have done better. Son and Lo Celso really should have scored their chances. After their poor performances against Boro, Alli, Son and Eriksen should have been dropped as they had another poor match. Lamela and Lo Celso should have started. But Lo Celso wasted a golden chance to score late in the match. It was unbelievable the way he missed his chance. I am sure the whole world thought that was a goal. My nephews and I were already celebrating when Aurier passed to Lo Celso. It looked impossible to miss but somehow Lo Celso managed to do the impossible ! It is surely one of the worst miss of the season !

Our midfield had a mediocre match. We played well in patches but were poor for most of the match. With Ndombele and Sissoko out injured, it was not really surprising our midfield struggled. Maybe we should have started with Dier or Wanyama to stop Liverpool. Winks made too many mistakes in midfield. This match shows yet again that we badly need a reliable defensive midfielder.

Our defence were not going to stop Liverpool scoring and so it was proved. At least, we only conceded 1 goal. It was a big gamble by Mourinho to give debut to Tanganga in defence. Tanganga did well for most of the match but his lack of experience still made the difference when he was easily beaten for their goal. Somehow I feel Vertonghen with his experience would have stopped that goal. Apart from that goal, our defence did well even if Liverpool didn't really test us much.

So, our poor record against the top 6 teams continues. We still cannot beat a top 6 teams this season. In fact, it has been more than 1 year since we beat Chelsea at home in November 2018. Since then, we have played the top 6 teams 12 times, drawing 3 and losing 9 of them. Embarassingly for us, Burnley, Villa and Spurs are the only 3 teams yet to beat any of the top 6 teams this season. A total of 12 teams (Brighton, Sheff Utd, Bournemouth, Southampton, West Ham, Everton, Wolves, Norwich, Palace, Newcastle, Watford and Leicester) have beaten the traditional top 6 (ManCity, ManU, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs) teams at least once this season. So, it shows our performances this season have been closer to bottom 3 than top 4. As of now, we are 9 points off top 4 and bottom 3 teams. Mourinho better do his magic to lift us if we don't want to get dragged into bottom 3 for the remaining of the season.

Agree. Liverpool were hanging on the ropes for the last 30 minutes of the game, and I've not seen anyone else doing that to Liverpool this season.
