I don't care how many stupid tackles Dier put in against Bournemouth, he has to play instead of Wanyama.
Wanyama playing in central midfield had a pass success of 59% against Ajax.
He was completely out of his depth there last week.
Sissoko came on and got him out of jail.

I admire your optimism. I am not as optimistic as I was before Bournemouth. Despite getting top-4 (realistically speaking), I think that Bournemouth result is not going to help us against Ajax mentally. The relief of getting top-4 for the players will be surpassed by the negative emotions Saturday bought.

Still, I think Poch may be thinking along the same lines - being positive and all that and knowing Ajax's worry re: setpieces.
It's not like we got tonked 5-0 fielding our first-choice team. We were toying with them until we got two players sent off. Yes, the result did have a psychological impact, but the 11-v-11 performance was quite good. If anything, I'd be worried about tiredness having to play with 9 men for the entire second half, moreso than the psychological impact.

In the end, I think we'll be fine. I predict 1-3, with the 3rd coming in the 85th minute as they're chasing the equalizer and have opened up. Sissoko with the assist after finding himself one-on-one with the keeper, but electing to pass it 20 yards back to Eriksen for a screamer.

Wanyama was Asleep At The Wheel(great band, btw) to let Ake in to score the late header for Bournemouth.

Not his first offence on defence.

Has Dier had one outstanding performance this season? Personally I think he has been poor all season

COYS - Win 3-2 on aggregate

On the flip side IIRC they haven’t won at home in the CL since October
Would the sum total of that ‘run’ be a defeat by Real Madrid and a draw against Juventus?

Compared with a run that includes defeats against World giants Bournemouth, Southampton and Burnley? :D

Nope
They also drew last minute vs a bang out of form Bayern Munich
Their set up isn’t as effective at home as they try to suck you in and counter with pace
They can’t do that at home

Well, they do have a 1-0 lead from an away game, so they could do that!

I can't say I'm too optimistic before this one. It's definitely doable, but I'm going to take it as a mighty positive surprise if we somehow manage to get through. Hopefully we'll surprise a few critics and play a blistering game. :)
