Matthijs De Ligt

Considering Holland aren't at the WC there should be no excuses for not buying him before pre season

Provided Ajax & player aren't playing the shop around game.

If we have bid in excess of 50M now, we aren't fudging around, they can close if they want to .. we depend on them.

First date on US preseason tour is Jul 25th, you would have to assume at least somewhere around the 11th (2 weeks before) to 16th at latest

Just a guess though ...

A months time then potentially to get deals done and have the squad in place before pre season - no real panic atm if so

.......and is he better than the two young central defenders we already have - CCV and the young Argie guy, who Poch apparently loves?

If we are in for him then that would suggest the club/manager/scouts think so

Yes! Out of him and Sanchez, De Ligt is the one that was considered to be the better player. He's at a very high level. He's pretty tough, with the technical ability of a midfielder, and reads the game very well. He plays like the modern version of Beckenbauer.

Yes he is. Without a doubt. He is a solid defender who is excellent on the ball. If Alderweireld is leaving, we need to replace him with someone ready to come in and play matches. Foyth and CCV have very little game time whereas De Ligt has played well for Ajax and that seems to be a good test given how well the other defenders that we have signed from them have performed.

He's 18 and never played in the Premier League. That's a big ask.
