Marcus is coming on nicely, it's a steady as you go, for the lad.
Great potential but needs to keep learning.

I was thinking the same thing about the teams physical make up, strong and difficult to beat beat but forwards too greedy. I like the little guy Edun in midfield and both the left back and keeper. They are all very young and have a lot to learn, we in Britain always expect too much of young player and the expectation can sometimes weight too heavy on young shoulders.

Surely if he was as good as everyone says, he would be starting for England rather than being on the bench?

He had been injured and, given our long-term injuries in England junior teams, maybe we asked that he was used sparingly.

I don't think it's that, more that this coach just prefers more physically/defensively superior players.

I've watched all the games and I don't think the manager wants to play with him and Mount in the side as they don't offer much when they haven't got the ball. Apart from Sessingon?the forwards are heads down and shoot types and lose the ball if they don't do the typical British thing and pass back to a defender!!!!!!!!. It could a fitness thing, but he's proved usefully as a sub and if that helps the team it's a good thing and may help him look at his overall performance.

I'd like to see him given a loan but not sure Spurs will want to risk his progression due to his injury record and we have the 'mighty' Checkatrade Trophy to go for now.........@parklane1 will be beside himself with excitement.....he loves a cup run

Does kind of indicate that he's likely to be quite a way off first team football for us? Pochettino values physicality and defensive ability highly too.

I watched the England team and as I said previously it's basically Chelsea robots playing a basketball strike game with pre planned moves.

You can see why they do so well at youth football and fail at men's

Edwards isn't ok physically and took some hard fouls in his stride but he isn't a 6ft plus beast which is what the core of this England side are

Keeper was excellent yesterday and took charge when the defenders switched off

The left back reminded me of a raw Danny Rose. Is it his brother on the squad (the other Da silva)?

He's probably a way off starting a high intensity PL game but I think he could have a place as an impact player in games where we're on top and pushing for a goal for example.

No relation. Josh Dasilva is another big powerful player, Jay as you say is a bit like Rose but even smaller.

Not to be a downer... The difference in quality between the u19 tournament and the PL is huge. If he was ready to make that kind of impact from the bench he should already be doing it with style at an u21 level imo. Or absolutely ripping apart a tiring u19 team. In other words, our other options from the bench in a situation like that would be players like Son, Lamela or Janssen. Imagine what they would do at u19 level...

Not at all to say that Edwards isn't a fantastic talent.

Lets hope he signs a long term contract then, if he's that good then we must be pushing him to sign one.

I don't think there's a perfect correlation between how a player does at youth level and how that translates to 1st team football. Marcus Rashford for example, he was a decent prospect but wasn't ripping it up at any level, he barely even played for the U21s but it didn't stop him from having an almost instant impact at senior level. Ultimately no one knows for sure how these players will do until they're given their chance and my point wasn't that he should be getting picked over anyone in particular but it's a long season with a lot of games and you're not always going to have everyone available - even two of the three you've mentioned above are currently unfit to play.

He has one year on his contract so unless he lowers his expectations with regards to how quickly first team football is forthcoming, or Poch can find a role for him somewhere then this won't be a point of debate for long as I suspect he'll be off, which would be a shame.

    I mostly agree with that.

I think it's quite likely that the contact issue will have to be sorted out before he will get significant game time from Pochettino.

My thing with Edwards is he lacks explosivness and fitness. These are the two things holding him back in my opinion. Hopefully poch can improve this but that was my thinking as to why he dropped down to the 23s

Have you watched him extensively? If so, what are his other attributes?

I've watched him since he was 14/15. I think his ability on the ball takes care of itself and Imo would already be one of the best dribblers at the club. but I have a huge question mark over what I mentioned earlier which is so important to play in a poch team
