Just to keep you all thoroughly depressed I've been mulling over our greatest disappointments (not Soldado and Paulinho) in recent years and it seems uncanny how often they seem to come at the hands of Woolwich, Chavski and the spammers. Disappointments defined as losing in important head-to-head matches or not achieving something (e.g. a significant league position). Here is the sorry list:

2001 FA Cup SF defeat to Woolwich
2006 Lasagne-gate (lost to Spammers to enable Woolwich to get 4th at our expense)
2007 FA Cup QF defeat to Chavski; Lge Cup SF defeat Woolwich
2012 denied CL because Chavski won CL and Woolwich finished above us in 3rd; lost to Chavski in FA Cup SF
2013 denied CL because Woolwich finished 1 place and 1 point above us
2015 Lost Lge Cup SF to Chavski
2016 finally K/O of title race with draw at Chavski; Woolwich finish 1 point above us in 2nd

There are are defined disappointments in this period - losing to Blackburn (02), Man Utd (09) in league Cup final and the Portsmouth FA Cup semo-final farce in 2010 (and possibly Man C pipping us to CL in 2011) but generally they come down to Woolwich and Chavski with very little going the other way (only the Lge Cup SF and Final)?

So what are the chances of this upset coming directly at the hands of our biggest rivals - does it happen to anyone else as regularly as us? Everton must have felt pretty tinkled in the 80s keep losing cup finals to Liverpool (but they did beat them to the league twice during that period) and Man U losing the league to CIty with Aguero goal in 2012 and finishing within touching distance of them this year must have hurt. Any others....or is it just us?

Considering the wealth gap between us and both Arse and Cheatski you could put it the other way round and say isn't it impressive how often we have run them so close.

As for the Spammers, when was the last time they finished above us? Our overall record against them stands up pretty well I'd have thought.

Yes its only been the Spammers once from that list although you could add the league match this season as it was pretty big as a win would have put us top and changed the rest of the season.

Also, its a bit of a freak occurance that 3 (4 including the Spammers) massive clubs are all located within 15 miles of each other. Doesn't happen anywhere else in the world.

Could also add to the 2012 fiasco by pointing out that John Terry racially abusing Anton Ferdinand caused a ripple effect whereby capello walked out of England job and unsettled Harry causing a cataclysmic dip in our form in the spring 2012.

Also Arnesen being poached by them in 2005 really hurt as felt as we were building something big with him as part of the set up - hard to know why whether him leaving has any sort of impact on us though?

Also a bit far fetched but chavski unsettling modric in 2011 so that he went on strike and missed first two games of season (which we lost heavily).

It has supplemented a hate which already existed between Levy and Abramovich. Hard to quantify how deep it is, but rest-assured, there will be no canapés shared between them any time soon, and that impacts everything we do.

I can't blame Levy there. I don't know Roman I-only-have-two-facial-expressions Abramovich personally, obviously, but if I did, I suspect I'd hate his guts as well. As it is, I can only despise him from afar.

Also they purloined Willian when a deal was all but done for him to come to us. fudging bastards.

Let's hope the pendulum is finally swinging our way a bit. We have our best defensive unit for years. And our best striker. Keep that together and we will start to beat the Chavs and the arse on a regular basis. Gradually all the major hoodoos are being swept away, only beating Chavski at their place remains and once terry is history we will beat them there.

So over a 17 year period you've found 7 years and its ALWAYS them.

You my friend need to get some perspective.

What perspective do I need? I've listed 10 disappointments and 7 of them at the hands of chavski, Woolwich or spammers.

It's not a downer on us just a reflection that our heartaches tend to come at the hands of our bitterest rival.

What the hell? What have Spam got to do with Spurs? Lasagne was all down to the Ars.anal, nothing to do with Spam nor Leyton Orient.

Rio and Sao Paulo have a lot of teams as well.

I would imagine nothing comes close to Everton's late 80s league champions not being able to participate in the European Cup because of Heysell.

Arsenal's promotion in 1919 deserves a mention, too.

Milan, Rome, Madrid, Barcelona, Munich, Berlin, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow, Edinburgh they all have 2 teams, Moscow (somebody already said) has 5, Prague has 5, Vienna has 3, so London is far from being exceptional.

That's why the 2008 league cup win was sooooooo gratifying.......thrashing the red scum in the semis and getting the better of the blue lot in the final. Glorious.
for which we should all fondly remember Ramos, not the league form thereafter :p
but honestly, the last 4 games were far too late, even though i'd have loved for us to push the foxes to have to win it than us being pegged back, hey ho - Next season, no excuse for our assault, it starts from the get go. We have to kill of teams, and learn to grind out wins and draws. If the oppo do beat us, they have to be pulling out teeth, hair, eyes etc. No easy games, or fold ups like at noocastle last game

nowhere near as bad as being a Emirates Marketing Project fan in the 90's when United were winning everything, someone even wrote a book about it ........
