Is there ANY player in our squad (including youth ranks) who can be our DCM until January?

The style of play is the issue

- the FBs overcommit and are not threatening enough anyway, they need to focus more on defending.
- Midfield is too narrow and too easily bypassed (always a risk with any kind of pressing side)

This team needs to go back to basics, play fudging simple and leverage the quality of front line to win games

If Dier doesn't show a quick return to form, what about Alder?

He's clearly struggling at CB now his pace has gone, but is a decent enough ballplayer to play in CM (where stamina, which improves with age, is more important than pace). IIRC he played CM a lot for Soton. Verts-Sanchez was/is a strong (our strongest?) CB pairing too

Its management basics, isnt it?

Team is really struggling - go back to fundamentals - build from there.

Usually it means stop conceding goals, first and foremost, and then develop from that platform.

Its what every manager does going into a club, literally the first job. And its exactly what will happen with us if Poch were to be replaced.

Exactly, don't fudging concede (even if you start with a strategy of don't concede in 1st half), and use Kane, Son, Lucas to hurt people, fudge everything else.

This side can play possession, it can play counter attack, it can play high energy, lots of options to just get the fudging basics in line.

Wouldn't you both agree that's what Poch did vs Brighton? 4-2-3-1, Dier back in to shield defence, Aurier out because he's been playing like brick.

That would be basically the first time, IMO - potentially too little too late

Fair enough, just seems an odd thing to be focusing on in a thread which is about what we do between now and January, without referencing that Poch at least did what you asked in the most recent game.

I'll leave it there though!

Nobody is parking the bus on us anymore; EVERY team now smells blood and knows a bus could be driven through the middle of our team, towards our goal.

If we don't solve the ability tackle in the cm area and defend long before the opposition get to our penalty area, we are in for a LOOONG winter..
