There were at least a couple of occasions yesterday where he did a lovely feint, totally wrong footing his opponent, giving himself space to carry the ball forward. He seems very confident in everything he does and is looking better and better each time he plays.

No love for Winks tonight? I thought he was peerless in the middle of the park tonight for the whole 90 minutes and he's only 22.

    My MOTM.

I'd give Jan the nod re MOTM

Winks has been significantly better the last few games than for most of season, hopefully he's over his little flat spot ..

One notable mistake tonight, but other than that, good performance

Yep. He was amazing in the Bernabeu, great tonight...he's a class act and finds the CL easy!

    Lots of love for him.
Yet again he’s in my MOTM reckoning - he was also superb tonight. I really don’t think it will be too long before these levels of performance become the expected norm for him (and therefore less worthy of accolade, if that makes sense). Which is remarkable really given his lack of experience.
He’s tenacious but also exciting to watch - you can sense the crowd lift when he picks up the ball and starts to run with it, or when he presses and wins the ball, or shields it and moves it on.
    So good to watch.

He's rolling right now, a class act.

Winks is the kind of player that will thrive in a good team (and we are that), because we will cover his deficiencies BUT allow his qualities to shine bright.

He's another on the upward curve and contribution wise could end up a Xavi / Iniesta type player for us.

And I'm not saying he'll be as good as them btw.;)

Times like this you must wish you'd never posted tripe like that!

He's played in central midfield against the best teams in Europe in the CL (Madrid, Dortmund, Barca just off the top of my head) and been a dominant force. What more would you like him to do to impress you?

We all misjudge players from time to time.

Winks is growing to be some player..do we actually think he is BETTER on a European/international stage than the PL??

Great to see him fully match sharp and tearing it up in CL again, after all the injury woes.

He’s very good in the PL, but he seems to save his best games for the CL.

Must admit I was surprised at the negativity towards his performances earlier in the season. I think he has been consistently good this season. Just hope he does not get injured.

Like most young players he has his 'moments' and fans always focus on the negative.

Would love to see England build a team around a Winks/Rice CM
