Harry Kane MBE

I actually think he's playing well. A couple of shots an inch more inside the post and he'd have goals to his name, it will come though because...this is Harry Kane we are talking about, the most consistent goal-scorer in English football over the past 3 years.

He was poor yesterday and against Chelsea, he is making the wrong decisions at the moment - trying to force a goal instead of passing it to an open team mate.

I just think we are a bit predictable with Harry Kane. Love him and he's clearly our best striker since a long time but are the days of having 2 or 3 decent strikers gone? He rarely gets subbed anymore so clearly he is irreplaceable but maybe a Cavani or another world class striker would help us out. Could rest him a little bit and not Diminish our striking threat much if at all.

Think you are spot on - said elsewhere that the threat of losing a starting 11 place is low - is this a good thing?

It's not I don't think. Our starting 11 is great but sometimes that's not enough for a certain game, you do need other options and different striking options and that's sometimes from the start.

I know Poch can't get it right all the time, but a striker with different movement might make the difference.

That said when Harry gets going and scoring he is unstoppable. I just think he does need some help.

I thought he was very good in both games. Loads of good moments from him, he is a class player. Even when he dropped deep and fired a pass at Trippier, it was the best pass of the game in terms of technique, he has so much talent. The one thing that annoyed me was when he tried a very difficult reverse pass to Winks who couldn't get it... Kane should have just stopped the game and dribbled until fouled, then played it to the corner and we would have won.

44 shots, 13 games and 898 minutes: The full madness of Harry Kane's August goalscoring curse It's one of the Premier League's most peculiar stats - and these numbers show just how bizarre it is that the Tottenham striker has NEVER scored in August
We really do need to stop recycling this bollox, it only adds to the pressure. I repeat, Kane HAS scored in August, from his point of view it was an excellent goal too, no fault of his it was disallowed because Son was marginally offside earlier in the move.

Just noticed that Toby said this after the game too, saying we need to be more mature and finish games off

This whole thing about Kane not scoring in August is partly down to lady luck. He's had a goal disallowed, he's hit the woodwork twice and he's brought several excellent saves from the keeper from goal-bound efforts. At the end of the day whether any of those go in and then count is almost as much down to chance as tossing a coin.

What's reassuring is he's getting plenty of shots away, most just one side of the post or the other. It's not like he's ballooning them into row 99.

Maybe at the start of the season defences are also that bit fresher, more organised, focused and resolute. The number of times yesterday they got to us to block our shots speaks of excellent preparation by Sean Dyche, so full credit to him for that.

Ah so the curse is true!! No matter what he does he can't score in August (except in the Europa league). Fates will conspire against him forever.
:D :D:D

There are many games when he deserved to and could/should have been subbed.

The caveat is: A striker can lose confidence and also try too hard if he thinks the sub board might come up. But overall on balance I think we would be better off with an additional good striker.

Stunned that some are already starting to question Kane.

Choked on my lunch reading that. Exactly which games are you referring to? Even at his worst he invariably comes close to scoring at least two or three times during the 90 minutes.

Cannot argue with the rest of your post.
