Have you noticed how a few clubs are talking about players over 30 are to old, it seems we are doing it and Arsenal are, Chelsea are not giving long contracts to over 30 year old's. But it was not that long ago that good players could go on till their mid 30's.
 
One thought as to why we have signed him. Perhaps he is seen as an option to counter the teams that have made our life difficult with a high press -- Liverpool and Emirates Marketing Project particularly. Instead of playing out from the back and struggling, he would be an out ball in a way that Harry is not.

I think it's that and also against the park the bus teams, Eriksen, Trippier and presumably Aurier can whip crosses in rather than having to rely on long range goals or eye of the needle stuff

I thought more for the teams that sit deep against us where we can't break them down. Get it wide and feed the big man!
 
Good to have different options and also someone with a bit of experience in there. He's a reliable goalscorer, always in the 10-20 goals a season range and has won trophies including titles and world cups which should help the squad.
 
Basically a bit like the Ars/Anal will throw on Giroud for the last 15 mins and cross the ball... he always seems to score... we can use Llllllllllorente in a similar fashion. Although Scaramanga may not like this idea.


PS - is there a joke about Fernando... Sir Nando... Chicken... Chick King... No like chikkin badge... aw I can't be arsed, make your own joke up.
