I don’t know how anyone can think Dier is good enough. This isn’t just a reaction to yesterday. He hasn’t been any good since 2016/17. Not to mention that car crash of a performance against Bournemouth last season when he was subbed off to avoid a red card. Neither him or Sissoko are good enough on the not defensively for us to progress.

Again that’s an opinion and your entitled to it

I remember him getting slated last season vs Brighton too yet it was him with the key passes that helped us win the game

He may not get back to his best but you can’t getting an odd game that’s for sure

Eric was poor yesterday but who wasn’t?
Not sure he can be judged till he’s had 6 full games back imho

    Exactly
    If he gets 6 games
Winks came on and was tackling and running like a mad man

Key passes for which team though?:D He loves a brain fart and constantly gives the ball away in critical areas either through poor passes or dithering on the ball - yesterday was nothing new, just a reminder of what we’ve been missing....

    For us
Watch the goals in that game
    Yeah he has done that
He has also won tackles, won battles and done his job.

Looked to me like he was trying to hard, rushed and lacked composure.
Exactly what I would expect from someone returning from injury and wanting to make an impact.

I thought he started off ok but as the game got away from us he got more and more frustrated and his touch went out the window.
It hurt him yesterday and I see that as one of the few positives.

i actually believe Winks will be a far better player with Dier in the position behind him. Winks ( imo) has played in a position that does not enable to be at his best, now Dier is back i think we will see the best of him again.

Alongside them in CM, but the more good/fit players we have the more options we can choose from.

Personally I think it's not his top speed that's the issue, it's his agility and acceleration.

Possibly, not seen any data on that.

Would like to see it measured - being slow on the turn often looks very similar to being left with too many people to mark in a game situation.

Don’t know if you follow NFL, but I’d LOVE to see all PL players be put through the Combine drills that the draft prospects have to do. Would be very interesting.

I'm fairly sure the technology is already there tracking them the way NFL players are, but I don't think the clubs share the data

Football players are assessed physically as well now as they can ever be with the tech available

My nephew went too look at bath rugby club and their using so much data to analyse performance its scary

Football is far ahead of that

I would probably play N’Dombele in the role that Eriksen played for us a couple of seasons ago.

I hope Dier can get back to what he was 3 years ago. My worry is that the monster that was Dembele was partly responsible for making Dier look better.
