I'm going to veer off script here. I'll say you are what you eat. If you are bombarded with the same message every day it is very difficult to view that message without being swayed, to stand back from it and make an objective opinion. In that silo there is never a counter-narrative, and the chances are that you will not build one yourself or if you hear one then it sounds fringe to you.

So are 40% of people stupid? Seems too high.

Sitting presidents have a big advantage and we do not know who he will be up against yet. He's a very difficult man to be up against because he has a complete disregard for the truth and large portions of the US media do not pick him up on it.

He is also a really effective communicator. It looks like garbled rubbish to anyone with a brain cell but to everyone else it looks like authenticity.
