Victimpool FC - Klopp leaving, grown men crying

You could argue that the object is to win matches and trophies are a bonus when you win enough in a short period of time. There is more to it than that, as good teams have the ability to rise to the occasion, but winning games over time has be a big part of a ranking. Sometimes clubs get lucky...

We could see the three promoted teams relegated and replaced by the three relegated from last year (if Ipswich drop into the playoffs and Southampton win them). Need some new blood.

    Champions League 23/24

Am I right that the coefficient is based on match results rather than who wins the tie? If so narrow wins for Liverpool and West Ham would help the coefficient, even if they are knocked out. Similarly a draw for Arsenal and losing on penalties would help.

The offences are for two overlapping three year windows (possibly four due to covid). As the offences are not independent, this can be treated as a mitigating factor. You could argue that they got 6 points for the three year window and an extra two for the addition year (or 8 points for a four...

    Spurs new investment

ENIC started in football that way. They had stakes in six or seven European clubs including Rangers (20%?), AEK Athens and one of the Prague clubs. They had to drop some of them because of UEFA rules (e.g. Athens also qualified for UEFA Cup). Now that other clubs are setting up portfolios, UEFA...

Stones and Walker played and both got injured. Arsenal players skip the international games and play today. Such things could decide the title. If City lose today, I think they're out of it. Four points behind two teams in good form will be tough to overcome.

I'd say he took the more difficult option, turning down two good opportunities. It's not bottling it to be confident that other top offers will be coming. He may also have his eye on another job which he prefers to those two.

I think Dortmund might have enjoyed that. Alonso deciding to stay at Leverkusen is an interesting move. His statement that it s a good place for a young coach makes a lot of sense, but what other considerations were there? Following a legend in Klopp, Real Madrid in a couple of years?

Leverkusen win again, coming back with goals in 89th and 91st minutes. They lead by 13pts with 7 games to go. Bayern have a game in hand, tonight against Dortmund.

    Cheatski are still scum

I agree you shouldn't do a table on expected goals, as you need to take the chances, which better strikers do. In January, Son Heung-min had 12 goals from a 7.12xG, being +4.88, while Calvert-Lewin had 3 goals from a 6.92xG, being -3.92. Chelsea have two of the top four underperformers...

They should be fourth based on expected goals, but that just means they would probably be fourth if their strikers were good enough. With all the use of statistics in recruitment these days, perhaps the stats mean they recruit players suited to creating expected goals and overlook the need to...

Victimpool FC - Klopp leaving, grown men crying

That was one of his best seasons, nursing that squad to the title. He managed to disguise the changes needed. All the talk about Alonso being interested in his former clubs, Bayern and Liverpool, ignore the fact that he played more games for Real Madrid. Two more seasons at Leverkusen and then...
