The youth players/on-loan thread 2016-17

Poch talks about him here at 5:45

Thanks. Jurgen the German should listen to the last 30 seconds of that.
Interviewer: Do you want to put a timeframe on Lamela coming back from injury, what game might he be back for e.g. Wycombe?
Poch: No, difficult to say, I don't want to guess again because I think, heh, looks like was nothing but now look... now the time we lost... him... on the team.

Oduwa tweeted something after the game along the lines of "waiting patiently".

Now there are two ways of looking at it. The first is that he's waiting for a chance to play for the first team. The second is that he's waiting patiently to move away from the club.

Well if it's because he wants to get away, then the sooner the better.

He'll be gone. He's already had loans under Poch and will be overage next season.

He was a joy to watch (that goal in the King testimonial will always be remembered), but I don't think he's ever been effective enough

Lost his way a bit after going to Rangers, saw him play a couple of games for Posh and he did not look very promising.

The biggest hurdle for kids who want to make a breakthrough to the big time is mental strength half the time. Of course they have to have ability but most kids who get to the major clubs have that ( some more then others). I have seen many kids who have all the talents to become very good players but do not have the mental strength to push it on.

There have been so many who at youth level look the real deal but as soon as they step up a level they seem to think that they have arrived and fail to push even harder to get further. Some kids start to believe they have made it and fail to understand that the real hard work has just started. Sad to say i have seen this happen to a lot of kids who should have been good players.
