Harry Kane MBE

Was it just me, or did Kane show a blistering turn of pace in the Villa game? I was really pleasantly surprised - or was it that the Villa defence were just carthorses?

Jose Mourinho has identified Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane as his primary transfer target if he becomes Manchester United manager in the summer, sources have told ESPN FC.

The ex-Chelsea manager's representatives remain confident that he will replace Louis van Gaal at the end of the season, and he has already started making transfer plans.

If Mourinho gets the job, he sees 22-year-old Kane's high work rate and intensity as a key element of his plan to revitalise United.

ESPN FC revealed in January that he had put together a dossier detailing his analysis of United and how he would improve them.

Those plans involve bringing up to five new first-team players -- two defenders, a central midfielder, a fast right winger and a mobile striker.

Mourinho is said to have been hugely impressed by Kane's performance in Tottenham's 5-3 win over his Chelsea side in January last year.

But sources say Spurs consider Kane to be unsellable and are confident that he is prepared to commit his future to the club.

The England international is known to be excited about the progress made under Mauricio Pochettino and excited about the future of the club, who are beginning work on a new stadium.

@OptaJoe
5 - Harry Kane has become the 5th Englishman to score 20+ goals in consecutive PL seasons (Cole, Ferdinand, Fowler & Shearer). Glory.

You have to go back to the inaugural season of the Premier League (1992/93) for the last time the top scorer in the league was a Spurs player (Sheringham).

No pressure, Harry.

In last seasons crunch games v le scum and cheatski, he showed a lot of nous and skill. Today he showed guile and quickness with great finishing.

We want more ! Magnificent. Against the ex-top four (pool, manyoo and chavs) would be bootifull !

Some mighty impressive stats in the above link:

Most goals: 21, two ahead of nearest rival Vardy

Most shots, 100 all told, a phenomenal 21 ahead of nearest rival Vardy

Most on target: 63, a gargantuan 18 ahead of nearest rival Vardy

Second most goals-per-minutes-played, one every 130. Only Aguero can better this with one every 112

Suppose different sauces are always going to come up with different stats. See BBC link in post 4055 above, claims Kane has had just 100 shots. So Beeb, when is a shot not a shot?
