Lol at mods trolling with the Hes.key name swap.

It would be one of the most bizarre decisions should Pool sell him to us ... we are their biggest problem in the league for the last 7 years, even when one of the established CL teams fudges up, they have to beat us still (and they have only managed once in last 6 or 7)

Indeed; which is why i believe it's flimflam OR Ben.teke is actually more sh!t than we realise and Liverpool want to pull a fast one on us

I think it's a little harsh on Emile actually. Although a product of his period (the embers of the 4-4-2/pre- 'the complete #9' age), he was a decent and underrated player (whereas Benteskey is overrated because of his Drogba-lite tag)
And there was me thinking he was rated because he scored 42 PL goals in only 89 PL games for a reasonably poor Aston Villa side. My mistake though, of course it must instead be because he is tagged 'Drogba-lite' (by you and you only).

If Ben.teke was to cost say £10m it'd be worth a punt perhaps. But i can't see him costing less than £20m and at that, i'd rather have Jeffers if i'm honest as he can play more than one position and to me looks like he has far better movement.
Your point about Robbie Keane: when Liverool cut their losses on him, Keane was returning to the club who sold him and not to a club that was a) competing with them for top a 4 place and b) a club who would have potentially been in competition with them in the first place to buy said player.
For example: would we have sold a younger Soldado to them unless we knew he was not good enough for us to worry about strengthening a rival??

That's a fair point and I can see your point of view. I do think the rumour is bs, but not wild bs if you get my drift. I could see a position where they want to cut their losses. Your point about them not selling to us is a fair one, but in reality they would only be able to sell to a foreign club because the only clubs domestically that would be able to afford him and his wages would be us and up (Man U, Man C, Chelsea and Arsenal) and we would all be competitors to them.

I use this story a lot about our current scouting but I think it brings a great point.

When at Southampton, they scouted a player who was rated one of the worst players in the French league. He was repeatedly getting booked and exposed. His Name was Dejan Lovren.

They signed him for Southampton for £8m and then sold him for £20m where he went back to being brick.

Mitchell pointed out they lyon played a AVB-esc high line which lovren was exposed but it didn't make him a bad player. Just the system didn't suit him.

The moral of the story is, trust our recruitment team, they know a great deal more than any of us.......

Excellent story.

Perhaps another good example here is Capoue.... Who looked like the worst holding midfield player I have ever seen when playing for us, but was successful in France before coming to us and has done well at Watford after leaving us.

Fair point and clearly people who spend their careers scouting players will have greater knowledge, however that doesn't mean that we cant have opinions about who we think we would like to see us sign
