In the moonlight
Under starlight
Songs old as the night
Are what I've been dreaming of

Crackin' tune from the early 80s that my daughter has dredged out of our pile of vinyl now that she's in love.

Sir Christopher Lee (92) has released another heavy metal single. Last year he became the oldest performer to ever reach the Billboard charts when his 'Jingle Hell' reached no. 18.

Just started listening to this guy. Quality, from start to finish. I love finding music which you have no idea about, and there is a full discography to delve into

Anyone here like Fela Kuti? Afrobeat...

St Anger re-recorded by two fans with a PROPER production. Sounds ****ing good.

I remember reading an interview with James Hetfield when St Anger came out saying he was blown away by the sounds of bands like System of a Down. The songs on St Anger to me sound like Metallica writing songs that don't sound like Metallica.

Their mixing on Death Magnetic as well was all over the shop. They should stop trying to be too clever and just record big fuvk off rock music.

Wtf does that mean? I know nothing a[bout it.

He's the one that produced it and played the bass guitar. It sounds like garbage, literally. Drum sound is like garbage cans.

With this proper sounding re-recording it's actually listenable. The song writing remains poor though.

Ah thanks. I just thought Metallica were **** full stop.

Never really been a huge Metallica fan.

Any fellow metalheads listened to Killer Be Killed? Album is awesome. Super group with Max Cavallera and singers from Mastodon and Dillinger Escape Plan.

That album is an absolute product of the time/era/chaos they had just emerged from. As for it sounding odd to some, people need to remember that it was recorded without a bassist (Newsted had gone, Trujillo didn't record it) thus Rock was not only producing, he was filling in the bass parts! Has a lot to do with things. A sorely underrated album.

Listening to it produced the way a metal record should sound, the song writing stands out as below par. Especially when it is Metallica. The second part was an improvement. Never got that far before  It's the most known songs that are the worst.

And yet Fleetwood Mac wrote one of the greatest records ever when they all hated each other and were snorting more powder than Colombia produces in a year.
