Also, you'll likely get a better deal from Ratuken global. I got mine on a deal when they were offering free worldwide shipping, cost around £85 but got stung for £25 or so on customs and handling fees. Still way less than they go for in the UK. Many of that forum have had good experience with Ratuken global, but obviously its somewhat of a risk.

The automatics here use a Japanese movement, and I know that Orient do make some top quality stuff, may have to get one to see what they are like.

I'm wearing the EM65009 right now which is the same as the above but with a blue dial and stainless steel case. Just got it through the other day but really enjoying it, here it is on an orange NATO strap:

As for the Invictas, it seems they have quite a poor reputation. I've never owned one so can't comment from experience but they aren't very well thought of. The 8926 however seems to be an exception, it uses a Seiko movement and for £60 you can't really go wrong.

I quite like storm watches tbh KD, have a look at their website and see if there's any that take your fancy. Or you live in London right? They have a few shops, ones near Covent Garden and perhaps Great Portland Street I think?
 
Interesting to hewarcdeiko movements are rated, I have a couple of kinetics somewhere.

I've been meaning to get a Lip. Some far out designs in therir collections, de baschmakoff etc.

I generally ignore the strap when looking at watches because they are easy to change and even high quality leather straps are cheap.

What kind of watch are you looking for? Dive watch? Chronograph? I really like some of the Citizen Eco-Drive watches, especially the Nighthawk.

Really there's so much variety, you'd need to narrow it down. Do you want the dial to be busy with a lot of things or more streamlined, what colour dial, the size of your wrist (and how big you want it to be on your wrist) etc...

I have recently gotten into watches; I think they are a great, stylish, functional accessory. I got a new watch recently to be my everyday beater, and I absolutely love it. It's a Citizen Eco-Drive chronograph with a basic green canvas strap. It was only $112 USD, as I got it from a "gray market" retailer online: http://www.jomashop.com They buy up excess stock that smaller retailers can't afford to keep around, and sell online at a steep discount. Completely legitimate, authentic merchandise, but since they are not an authorized retailer, you don't get the manufacturer warranty; it does however come with a significant seller warranty. I have bought 4 watches from this site and have been thrilled with the service. It is based in Brooklyn, NYC, so I can't vouch for how quickly watches would ship internationally. It seems that there is a flat rate of $20 USD for international shipping. They carry many major brands...check it out! (By the way, I do not work for them; just really have been pleased! :) )
Has kept perfect time, and is powered by natural and artificial light (i.e. should never need a battery change).
