Etienne Capoue

Surely he won't go to Atletico after he's been shown around like he was?!

And you would also imagine that having Lloris and Kaboul, both other french internationals, would help him think that he could settle at Spurs quickly. The three belgians probably also speak French as would Benny and Ade (for as long as they're around)

I think if Athletico match our terms then like Villa its a no brainer, 3rd placed team in Spain, in the Champions League, great squad, great city, big stadium. Obviously we can offer a lot of those things too, but not the 3rd place finish or the champions league.

Let's hope the deal is a bit too far down the line for them to nip in.

I only got halfway down the Mirror article before closing the page, the whole lot just struck me as page filler and flimflam so I wouldn't worry on the basis of anything they've written.

Yes, indeed i often feel that way when i read the online version of that newspaper.

WTF is happening with this??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

ah answering questions with questions are we..........

fine why do dogs have wet/cold noses?

Who, me? ;)

It seems that a wet/moist nose helps a dog's sense of smell and also helps the dog keep cool. That's just based on a google search as I got curious, but seems to be the consensus on the top google results at least.

The wetness seems to result from a combination of mucus secretion and licking along with absorption.

------------------------------------

Ever so slightly more on topic for those inclined to enjoy stats: Capoue was the Toulouse player with the highest average passes per game last season with 63.9. 2nd and 3rd of those with over 10 starts had 53.6 and 44.9 respectively (one player with 45.7 with just 7 starts). Making him quite comfortably their most involved player. In league 1 he was the player with the second highest amount of passes last season, first placed Balmont also had 63.9 and just edged ahead of him.

His pass success was "only" 80.8% But I don't put much stock in that number on it's own. He averaged 7 accurate long balls per game, third highest in the league among outfield players. Indicating to me at least that his passing isn't just sideways and backwards easy passes often seen from some players with very high pass completion rates.

As a point of comparison the players in our squads that had the highest ppg last season were Dembele and Vertonghen with 48.7 and 47.8 respectively. They both had considerably higher pass completion rates with 90.9% and 87.1% respectively though, but with only 3.3 and 3.6 accurate long balls per game.

A slightly different point of comparison: The season before last Luka Modric averaged 70.4 ppg with a completion rate of 87.4% and 7.6 accurate long balls per game.

One of the youtube videos showing all (or most?) of his involvements in a single game shows him up against PSG:

I think that shows pretty much the player described in the above stats. I think his defensive contributions have been well discussed already, but if this youtube video is representative he's a player that enjoys getting on the ball in deeper positions and that will look for purposeful forward passes too.

I think we're delaying in announcing so we don't get stung on the price we want for Hudd/Parker/Livermore.
