Roberto Soldado

Not sure about your source, but this one disagrees:

Valencia News ‏@XimoVCF 29 Dec, 2012

VCF willing to offer Raúl Albiol a four year contract, on same salary as Soldado (€1.8m per season); the highest paid player at VCF. (PD)

That's just about £30k per week.

Also on top of that rumour's have been building momentum since last night that the negotiations are very close to collapsing, wouldn't surprise if me true due to Salvo's refusal to drop the price.

surely it would not be the price. I cannot believe that Levy would go back on a player we desperately need over 4m. It has to be down to how they want it paid. If they want it half now and half in a year then its a lot straight up. Most teams pay for players over a 4 year period or so. But with their money problems that may be the way they want it structured.

True. According to some Spaniard on teletext we actually haven't been in touch with Valencia since Baldini left and this guy isn't the only one saying this. Valencia's financial position isn't great whilst also being desperate to re-start construction on their half finished 75,000 capacity stadium which has been left untouched since 2009, currently looks like this.

Shame really as it looked the shizz.

The thing with their new stadium is that the foundations are fudged. It has been left idle for too long so they essentially have to start from scratch again, if they ever build it.

@craig_wijckaans @SibsTHFC Sources in the club have confirmed it to several well connected journos. Again; Valencia is very open to media

So are Valencia back peddling as the ITK's promised or not?

Come off it...you believe those fools?

IMO we haven't contacted them again because we genuinely wasn't serious about acquiring the services of Soldado (for that price anyway). They didn't budge so that's that.

If you're on Twitter, follow @Spurspanyol. Lives in Valencia, is reporting on the transfer via the local press. The crux of it is, Valencia need to sell. Playing hardball to look like they are not weak when the reality is they are. He's not reporting ITK, just the news out there which is far more transparent than the news we get in the UK. Important to remember the local press play to Valencia's agenda.

Latest snippets include loan interest Valencia need to pay in August along with a variety of 'new signings' they are working on - all of which can only happen if they sell Soldado.

"They are backed massively in a corner here"

which is only positive for us for as long as we are the only ones interested

im sure Levy also thought he had Barca backed up in a corner because they desperately wanted rid of Villa due to massive payments in the last year of his contract if he stayed, and D Villa seemed to suggest that he was very happy to join Spurs. Win win for Spurs? yeah right
