Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

The general consensus from inside the ant hill is that it’s the perm secs that are actually in charge of the country.
These senior civil servants are the ones that actually create long term policies and use their Sec of States to implement those policies and some are more successful than others.
So don’t kid yourselves that the people you elect are in charge of the long term direction of this country, they may choose what policy (sometimes from a pick list) and how that policy is implemented, but ultimately a 4 year term is just not long enough to accomplish anything so you have people that have the 25 year view and the power to deliver it (I’m working on some stuff right now that won’t even be delivered until 2030)
Every now and again someone will throw a spanner in the works and do something unexpected (Brexit) but most of the time they are led by the nose through their terms in office.

Tory MPs are no longer allowed to use the terms "Brexit" or "No Deal". :D

Government are in denial about an Irish border - heads in the sand - and are now moaning that the EU is being unfair! ahaha. What a joke.

And Gove has admitted the UK will need around 50,000 border form fillers. Red tape we don’t have now.

To put it in context the UK fishing industry employs 12,000 people.

Thank goodness we’re leaving all that Brussels red tape behind.

But the saps swallowed it, the right wing ones at least. It was going to be their libitairian nirvana... wait... no... what?

So the European union are forcing airlines to fly planes on route with no one on them as ghost flights or they will lose their slots at the airports.

Taking climate change seriously.

Utter cnuts.

However grim things are, the exile of Corby, McDonnell, Lavery, Murphy, Burgon, Trickett, Abbott and all the other trots and tankies is a joy. Centrist dads have our Labour party back.

So, Keir, make the price of signing up to the war cabinet be railway nationalisation, to keep the momentumites happy (and given that the franchisees will be desperate for a way out right now), and then you have a free statesman-in-waiting pass.
