Eric Dier

He's not the biggest leader we've ever seen but he's one of the biggest in the current squad and could be what we need, I think the midfield would look more balanced with him in it if he's fully fit - he's not quick but tracks runners far better than Winks does.
The balance of Dier plus Winks/Ndombele is so much better than hoping a ball playing midfielder can just plug the hole in CM. Even in the days of Modric he always had a Parker or Huddlestone next to him, so expecting Winks to be able to perform every CM function possible is stretching it a bit.

I like the idea of it on paper, for sure.

And I also think the whole team is comfortable with (and built for?) a 4-2-3-1.

Really seems like a no brainer doesnt it?

Thought he was our best player last night and ( imo) we have missed him badly over the last 12 months. He is a leader and again ( imo) he should be our capt on the pitch.

Im not his biggest fan to be honest but he has proved his worth when he has been out. He is certainly better then any of our other defensive midfielders and he should be starting.

Am I right in thinking he has 2 years left on his contract? if he is not talking about a new contract at the moment then this is another one who may see his future elsewhere. Can not believe Levy is letting players get towards the last year of their contract without renewing, particularly when they are in their mid 20s.

To be honest i have no idea what he has left on his contract, but we have already seen a couple of players ( Walker, Trippier) move on, add to that Rose, Toby and now Eriksen who all seem to want to. Said it before and will say it again players want to WIN things and if they do not think they can here they will move where they believe the chances are better.

They are fans who scoff at this idea but the proof is there for all to see, some need to open their eyes and stop being blinded.

Did not look like it last night.
