The Cricket Thread

History being made. Highest ever run chase in a 4th Innings, and I think a Test record 10th wicket partnership??

Anderson and Root got 198 against India, but that was first innings and without the pressure. The scoring was somewhat more balanced, with Anderson getting 81.

Could well be the best final wicket partnership to win a test or chasing a win.

The innings also showed two completely different skills. He started playing a patient test match innings and then switched to one day mode when it was the last wicket partnership. It was a very intelligent innings with good risk-taking decisions. He had fair share of luck at the end but that was do or die time.

So for someone who knows very little about cricket, why is there so much fuss about England winning today? Is it like a world Cup final or something?

The ashes are much more important than the world cup. It's the pinnacle of cricket

The World Cup is only one-day games, which is a different sport. A bit like 5-a-sides football or rugby 7s. Test matches (5 dayers) is the serious stuff. And England-Australia is the great global rivalry.

What an absolute Joy and at the same time horrific final couple of hours that test was to watch. Ben Stokes what a player he has ice running through his veins.
