Christian Eriksen

Very enlightening afternoon with respect to Eriksen. If anything it puts to bed the Eriksen is world class fallacy. He is a very good player but not world class by any stretch of the imagination. World class is Hazard; world class is De Bruyne - even Eriksen at his best has never, ever, gotten close to De Bruyne's performance yesterday. The instinctive cross for the first goal, the finding of space to provide the cross for the second - breathtaking!

I can also see why Poch did not start him last week. Man, he was atrocious!! Lazy, uninterested, ineffective... you name it. Did absolutely nothing good all game and not surprisingly most of bricky's incisive attacks came down our left by midfielders he was supposed to be tracking back to cover. If he is angling for a move and wanting to undo all the good feelings towards him, I can tell you... he's doing a great job of it!

Worst player for us yesterday, hardly knew he was on the pitch. He just wasn't up to the physical challenge and was bullied off the ball constantly, that has to be be one of the worst games he's played for us from memory.

Yeah I think that’s what prevents Eriksen from being a top tier player. His passing is top tier, but when pressed he doesn’t have the physicality or skill to escape it.

Let’s hope he realises Spurs are his level and no-one better wants him, he signs a new contract and gets back to his best.

I don’t think that’s fair, Eriksen has shown it in the past, smashing Madrid and United at Wembley immediately spring to mind, he’s done it to City twice in recent memory too, the 2-0 win at the Lane and the 2-1 away win at the Etihad a few months earlier.

He can do it when he wants to. My issue with him
is that he doesn’t do it enough, criticism of recent performance is bang on, yesterday he looked like he couldn’t give a toss.

Didn’t eriksen do exactly that when we beat Chelsea at home 2 nil... with crosses for deles headers???

If this is true (and I suspect it very well could be) then we will have no choice but to accept a bid of that magnitude.

Arsenal will potentially be his last game for us.

If we turn the bid down, I’d be very surprised if we didn’t have a sulky Dane kicking around for 8 months dragging the mood down, as a precursor to then getting his move anyway for free in the summer.

60m? Done fudging deal. Get Dybala done in January.
It did seem in the generous side for a “take it or leave it offer”!

Personally I’d be anticipating £30m which would make it painful but begrudgingly still acceptable.

I also can’t help but feel a lot of the current debates around Eriksen’s effectiveness are only in existence due to him playing in 2nd or 3rd gear, as he’s had a Madrid move lined up for the last 9 months and counting!

If that is the case, my opinion of him hits rock bottom. Ramsey continued to play at full force for the scum even though his Juve deals was completed. Not too much to expect a similar attitude.

I don't begrudge him leaving and I'd much rather he went now for a decent fee than potentially spend the next 8 months not being dedicated to the cause.

We can survive without Eriksen of that I have no doubt, we will need to add a creative player in January, but I'd hope the team would be up for the challenge until a replacement can be added to the squad.

I don’t think that’s fair on Kane. He got absolutely zero service yesterday. I wouldn’t for a second hold him responsible.
But it was a perfect game for Eriksen to shine? If Eriksen is supposed to dominate these kind of games, why doesn't the same apply to other players, like Kane?

So Kane needs a perfect platform for him to be involved, but Eriksen is supposed to perform regardless of how the team is set up and performs. And that makes Kane world class, and Eriksen is not....
Makes sense....

Not holding him responsible at all, the whole team were poor ( imo) and we got away with a point. Having said that we have not won some of our games over the seasons that we deserved too so what goes around comes around.

City are the best team in the Prem and on their day unplayable but we got a point no need for anyone ( not saying you are) to moan about how poor we were. We will play better then what we showed yesterday.

He's a superb player, one of my favourites and I hope we convince him to stay and sign a new contract. That said he was brick yesterday and has been blowing hot and cold since the turn of the year.
