Who was that loon who bought into all the tinfoil hat stuff that used to post here? This thread would be like Catnip to him - I expect him to drop in any time now to tell us how there's no breeze on the moon and how jet fuel can't melt steel.

Why risk putting people up there? Computers are more capable, more reliable and arguably more replaceable.

!!!!!!!! We're talking about USA here, when did they ever care about risking people if there's a buck in it. I could understand if there was no financial benefit in the project but that would mean someone admitting that was the case.

I think NASA have been fairly open about their reduction in manned missions wherever possible due to the huge expense of it.
