Christian Eriksen

I still reckon Levy is delaying the new contact to save £. If he's on £70k today and wants £150k, then the £80k per week saving means the club saves £4m if he signs the new deal a year later. Thats a material amount
Only if the contract is a year shorter than originally offered? But yes I did wonder if either the offer gets backdated if it’s made mid season or if in the case of him and Toby we have offered them something that can’t kick in until we move to the stadium. I think that’s just me clutching at straws though, we got Alli and Kane done and these two could still earn double what we would offer and probably more than Kane. If we somehow got them both done I’d consider it the equivalent of us signing 150-200m worth of players

Its good to see players do that and thankfully it happens quite a lot in todays game. For a kid he will never forget being given that, when i was kid we used to be allowed to sit in front of the walls ( in the bigger games because of the numbers) after one game Cliff Jones walked right by and without being asked gave me his shirt.

I still have that shirt and its one of my prized football possessions.

Agreed about that. It's a simple gesture that takes little time and effort for players, but for those kids its a once in a lifetime experience they will never forget. It's great for the relationship between players and fans in general too - when we see stuff like this, it makes the players more human and likeable.

Back in those days they weren't allowed to give their shirts away. They would have to buy a new one if they gave it away.

Even now they only get so many a season, 3 of each sleeve length I believe, beyond that they have to buy their own.

Eriksen clearly just trying to curry favour and keep the fans onside for when the transfer request goes in ;)
