That was their Chairman Rupert Lowe who in grandstanding during the Hoddle transfer said that Southampton were as a big a club as Spurs, they were in his words " a big south coast club, or the biggest."

After the disappointing defeat to Arsenal, we need to get back to winning ways in the league. We have a great record against Southampton in recent years, winning 9, drawing 2 and losing 1 of our last 12 matches against them in the league. That only defeat came after we had just lost the league title race to Leicester in 2016. Hope we will make use of our great record against Southampton to get back our winning form. Since we are playing at home, there is no reason why we cannot beat them. After all, we beat them 5-2 at home last season with Kane scoring the hattrick.
We need all our key players to step up their game after their poor performance against Arsenal. Kane had scored 6 goals against Southampton in the past. Want to see him continue his goal scoring run against them in this match. Apart from Kane, we need others like Eriksen, Alli and Moura to get back their form as well. We badly missed Lamela against Arsenal. Hope Lamela will be fit for this match. Moura started the season in great goal scoring form but has bee struggling in recent matches. Want to see Moura step up his game and get back his form. Son came come on later in the match to help us as needed.
Our midfield had a disappointing match against Arsenal. Wish Wanyama and Dembele will be fully fit to start. But somehow can't see them being fit to start this match. Dier made a few crucial mistakes against Arsenal. Still not fully convinced of Winks but he can start with Sissoko in midfield in this match. Sissoko had a poor match against Arsenal. Want to see Sissoko get back his recent good form in this match.
Our defence were in shambles against Arsenal. Want to see our defence get back their form in this match. Since Vertonghen will be suspended for this match, hope Alderweireld and Foyth will have a error-free match in defence. Lloris too need a good performance in goal after conceding 4 goals against Arsenal. It will be disappointing if we don't keep the clean sheet in this match.
Southampton will be desperate to win as they had just sacked their manager Hughes. They will be all our to impress their new manager. So, they won't make it easy for us in this match. We need to get an early goal to help settle our nerves and then go for more goals to kill the game off. Let's hope we will turn up with the right team and mentality to get a comfortable win over Southampton.

Boy picking this team for freshness is really tough, particularly with Lamela missing again. He'd be a nailed on start otherwise.

Not now.
Spurs now have the ability to put bad results quickly aside and move forward again. A
tidy win from an early lead and efficient game management is called for. I'm quite calm about this game.
Hoping Southampton are eager to impress and come out chasing a goal so we can turn the first half into a track meet. We're built for speed.
Fairly sure it was. One of the small and insignificant stains this place has left on the world.

I wonder what team we'll put out today. Foyth for Verts is obvious, but otherwise what changes CAN we make? Moura for Son or Alli and Winks in midfield for Sissoko? And Rose for Davies.
Not many other changes we can do in the current situation. And if the players were tired on Sunday, I don't expect them to be any less tired now! This might be a tricky game!
