Rochdale will use a plastic dome full of hot air to make sure their new pitch at Spotland Stadium is ready for their FA Cup tie with Tottenham on Sunday.

The League One club are laying a new surface this week after months of bad weather in Lancashire finally proved too much, causing last weekend's home game against Fleetwood to be called off.

Contractors have been working round the clock to do the work and it is understood that the pitch will be finished by Tuesday night.

At that point a huge plastic dome will be erected over the whole area to prevent further weather damage.

This will then be pumped full of warm air to help the grass knit together with Rochdale very confident now that the game against Tottenham will go ahead.

Rochdale's players are actually intending to train on the new surface on Friday ahead of Sunday's game.

Looks like they’ll need the dome to protect the new pitch from snowfall, wrap up warm those of you trekking up there!

WTF

Have they not got the internet there?

And why are tickets only going on sale 4 days before the game?

Transfer deadline day in Rochdale

Any of the first X1 that dont play v Rochdale will end up having a 13-day nice break with the Palace match not until a week on Monday. Not bad this point in the season, recharge the batteries ready for the run-in
III or IV times per week you type X1 instead of XI
Julius Caesar does not approve
It is not X1
Never has been
That is probably a BMW or somesuch

iirc the last couple of times we had any sort of break, we fudged up badly in the next game. We went abroad from some sunshine and could then only draw 0-0 at Sunderland last season; and this season, after a few days in Barcelona, we had the 1-1 draw at Soton. Rest is not always a good thing.

I'm a bit worried about rolling the second string and getting taught an FA Cup lesson by these guys.

Would have a few of the main guys in there but not the Kane, Eriksen or Dembele.

I think that it is most likely that Poch will do a partial rotation in each of the next three games (Rochdale, Palace and Huddersfield) with the aim of having everyone fresh for the Juve second leg in three weeks time. These three games are a good opportunity to give everyone a bit of a rest, keep the squad match fit and have them fresh for the run in.

The next three games

- Rest Dembele, Eriksen & Jan against Rochdale (they are our difference makers along with Kane)
- Get Lucas, Toby, Winks, Wanyama and Rose up to match fitness
- Rotate the others, give Foyth & Llorente time, utilize Sissoko

I think we want 3 at back for Juve, with a rested Dembele & Eriksen.
