    Gin

My favorite Gin ****tail. Boozy and delicious... The Martinez: 2 parts Gin (traditionally an Old Tom style but it works well with London Dry styles too such as Beefeater, Tanqueray etc) 2 parts Sweet Vermouth 1 part Cherry Liqueur 3-4 dashes bitters (ie. Angostura) Stir with ice and serve...

    Gin

I work in the spirits business in San Francisco, and deal with most of the high-end mixology bars and restaurants. I often conduct ****tail blind-tastings with buyers and, even though i don't sell it, Beefeaters is the one brand that always ranks near the top, even against considerably more...

    Gin

Try using a better quality tonic. Schwepps, for example, is so thick (and full of crap such as high-fructose corn syrup) that it can easily bury the Gin. Since the tonic makes up the majority of the drink, it's just as important to use a quality one as it is to use a nice Gin.

    Bristol

Went to Uni there and had a smashing time, but this was 20 years ago during the Massive Attack/Portishead era when the city was buzzing. It was a laid-back, friendly city in general. Haven't been back since but would like to visit again if I get the chance

Barack Obama good president or not?

He hasn't messed anything up on a W-like scale, that's about the best I can give him. If he had been the President during a time of prosperity and peace, he would have been a much-better leader. However, he was elected when the US and the world needed someone strong to confront the main issues...

    Independence...

Most of their production and supply is localised so there shouldn't be much disruption either way. There are a few English-based malt producers but I would imagine they would just move their businesses north of the border. Everything else supply-wise is either domestically supplied (water, malt...

    Andros Townsend

    Re: Official - Townsend In a 4-4-2 I'd play Lennon. In a 4-2-3-1 I'd play Townsend.

    Robin Williams RIP

Very sad news. Watched Good Morning Vietnam last night in response to the news of his passing. Had to wipe a tear away as the final credits rolled. Wonderful film and, as he seemed in real life, a wonderful person. RIP.

The Best Album Of All Time - Final - What's Going On v Sgt Pepper

This is the equivalent of Bohemian Rhapsody being voted the greatest single of all time.

The Best Album of All Time - Semi final - Sgt Peppers v Exile On Main Street

^^^ That documentary is the quintessential Rockumentary for me. If you have two hours to kill, check it out. Stones for me.

    Paulinho

Re: Official MKII- Paulinho How can you judge anyone on last season's performances alone? Especially a foreign player playing his first season in the PL which we all know is difficult to adjust to. Add-on the fact that our starting XI was in constant turmoil and that both managers were absolute...

The Best Album Of All Time - Pixies v the Smiths

Really tough choice but ended up going with The Pixies, merely based on the fact that I've listened to that album more over the past 10 years.

The Best Album Of All Time - Massive Attack v Guns and Roses

Appetite is a great rock album for sure, but Blue Lines was hugely influential and created a whole new genre which, for me, perfectly encapsulated the era.
