Fernando Llorente

Most swans fans on Twitter are thanking him for his time with them and also wishing him best of luck at spurs. Doesn't seem to be a lot of bad blood at all, quite the opposite.
Thanks. I was more coming from, do they think he'll be good for us/do they think he'll be a big loss for them (probably not now they've got Bony).

I was not sure about this when i first heard of our interest in him, however on reflection i think it could be a very good buy. He is great in the air and his first touch is pretty good, Kane will learn a lot from him and he will give us a extra dimension when he does play.

I am glad to see that Janssen is still here as well, he will also learn about movement in the box another thing Llorente is very good at.
That vid of Llorente's goals last season is a lesson in itself. Nearly all of them are scored from in and about the same spot. Even if Janssen takes that one rather obvious positioning lesson on board he will add goals, of that I have no doubt.

You'd hope that as an international professional striker Janssen would have learned that at some point by now!

I'm sure that a Janssen full of confidence would have no problems with that. Unfortunately, he is not full of confidence and his form is shot.

Minutes on the pitch would see him right I reckon, which is why I'm stunned he turned down the loan.

The more I think about this signing the happier I am. 15 goals for a struggling outfit is no mean feat and the types of goals are different than Kane (mainly headers). Love this genuine alternative option. To be fair to Arsenal they have Giroud who performs a similar role, off the bench and an absolute monster in the air.
And those who have already said it are right about doing him a disservice with respects to the ball at his feet. Llorente is a very good player, and could give us some invaluable experience when we need it most

Also I'm not sure he will start too many games for us. I see even when Kane is out that Son prob will start but he will come on quite a bit I reckon

I personally thinks he runs the channels too much, so maybe it is something he needs to work on.

I think that he is trying to make up for a lack of goals by putting in a shift and this is putting him in positions where he is less likely to score. It's become a bit of a vicious circle.

Good point, sometimes strikers have to be selfish just like Kane ( and before his fans get on me about that i am not saying he should change). I feel sometimes Janssen tries to hard to hold things for others.

scored some great headers for a poor swansea side, I didnt realise he is 32 but he's got at least 2 good years in him at the top level, will act as a good foil for kane.

For me, his biggest asset is finding space in the box. He has a good first touch, can bring others into play and knows where the goal is. The rest of our team will love that.

“I can only say that I come here to help Tottenham to win titles. I think they are working very, very good in the last years and I like it a lot.

“I am 32 years old, but I want to learn every day. I think I can learn a lot of things off Harry Kane and all the players. I can learn with Pochettino a lot and I am going to do my best here.

“I think I can do more things in my career and my dream is to do that here in Tottenham.”

I like this signing. I like it even more because Janssen's sticking around, although a loan would have been preferable in terms of playing time.

As I've indicated before, his primary strength is and will be his strength, size and aerial ability. His touch is good, as is his finishing from close range, but we didn't buy him for that alone. However, what he'll bring in addition to those primary attributes is experience - and, the more I think about it, the more I like it in that respect. His time at Juventus under Conte bagged him league titles, cups and experience dominating a league with a relentless winning mentality. Maybe he could bring that here, to finish off what we've already got. Allying the determination and desire we already have with nous and game management, so we don't end up conceding to f*cking Burnley in the 90th minute. :p

Welcome, Fernando. You would have been perfect for us six years ago. But I suspect you'll still be a fine signing now. ;)

Well said, Duberino.

I pre-approved this transfer and liked the fact that he looked a perfect addition given his age, experience and expectations. He has exactly the right outlook and appetite for what he will be asked to provide the club. We would have been hard pressed to do better without lashing out many millions more and possibly having to deal with a player demanding more playing time at the expense of our established starters.

He looks like an ideal role model and mentor for Janssen.
