JJ's issue was lack of drive, he was comfortable in his level and at club. To be fair to him, that was an issue/attitude that applied to more than just him at club (Lennon is the other prime example). A young JJ & Lennon under Poch would probably have turned out very different.

Nail on head. When JJ was at Saudi Sportswashing Machine and made his fishbowl comment it smacked of a young talent not being protected by his manager. Poch has clearly worked out how to bring on youngsters and make them feel safe. Like his comments after Dele's sending off against Gent. JJ had some great games but didn't have the consistency. He's a good pundit though.

I disagree that it was lack of drive. I think bit was actually a bit of a lack of confidence. IMO Jenas didn't believe he was as good as he was. It is often that self belief that is the difference between good and great players..... it seems that both Ali and Kane have self belief in abundance, which is a great thing.

Tempted .. but the obvious step up in his game when he played the Scum would indicate drive .. either way JJ had a higher ceiling than where he ended.

Dele has to look at that, he can be the player he is now, or he can step up another level (dominate games) and truly be something special

Fine lines and I would agree that mentality/confidence are a major factor in JJ never quite becoming what he could've been. I do think Dele is better (world class potentially) but I agree wholeheartedly that he didn't believe he was as good as he was. In fact, he lacked guile!!!!!!
 
JJ was brilliant reactive player but never had the full picture of the pitch in his head. That for me stopped him from becoming the player he could have been.

How much do you think it would take for Levy to entertain the idea of selling Alli? With this new stadium it's naive to think he doesn't have a price. My view is anything around the 90m mark would seriously test our resolve.

The key point isn't as much the offer from another club, but rather how Alli responds to it. If he starts demanding a move Levy and Pochettino will have to start considering how much it would take. As long as Alli is happy staying I'm not worried about Levy doing anything because of the stadium.

Remember when all the idiots were angry about Levy not getting the stadium build started earlier? Well with Levy we have seemingly ended up with a very well planned and financed new stadium with a low risk. That to me means there's no reason to sell star players to fund it.
 
I don't believe Levy would sell any player without the 100% endorsement of Poch. To do otherwise would undoubtedly ruin what appears to be a good working relationship. Unless as said above Ali was really agitating to leave, (which I can't see happening right now), or Poch saw the opportunity to re-invest the funds in improving the squad (and how would selling Ali help that?) then I think we can be pretty confident that any offers will be rebuffed.
What a great position to be in.
 
We will to sell any key player until we move into the new ground with the sponsors signed

We currently have the 2 shining lights of English football in Alli and Kane and they attract sponsors and money

To sell them before we move to the new WHL would be crazy even for silly money
 
The media yesterday were running a lot with Peps desire for English players and there was a talk of raids on us for Alli, Kane, walks and Rose.

I think the press fail to realise the Spirit we have in our camp is extremely high. It's clear our boys are playing for each other, the manager and the fans. We have huge names on long contracts without the ego issues and I do think it will take a lot more than the moneybags Sheik to break up the team at this moment.

Basically, it's the press making up stories for stories sake.

I have followed this great club for 37 years and I never believed our time would come, I now believe.....so I say a big fudge off to the media, City, Utd, Chavs, goons and Bin dippers - WE are Tottenham and we have arrived.
 
jenas had talent but had one of the weakest mentalities you will find in football. he was an absolute pussy at times. i have not forgotten those games for us just because he's wearing a shirt on motd.

i think he remember aswell as hes been licking our butt ever since

Crap penalty today. Hope thats the last one he takes. Would rather have seen Eriksen or Son take them ahead of Dele, potentially even Dier and Davies given they strike the ball cleanly.

Absolutely this, as I have probably mentioned on here alot a friend of mine is brothers of a top agent and he said Jenas was one of the nicest blokes you can meet in football but a reluctant footballer, said he was happiest under Sir Bobby which you can understand to some extent. But he was a talent, I liked him but I think regardless you talk different levels when you look at Spurs now to his time.

I like him though, all footballers are wired different, nothing wrong with that
