Thought this guy deserved his own thread.

I was really impressed with him against Juve. Coupled with these two videos, can't help but think a) his potential is huge (based on how awesome he looks against U21 peers), and b) he is ready for increased first team involvement (based on not looking out of place against Milan or Juve)

Obviously a very small sample size so don't want to overreact, but he looks really promising. Would be great if he could step in this season as Dembele's backup - from what I've seen, it would be a shame to buy in a backup and thus stall his development.

Thoughts?

I like what I've seen. He's like Tom Carroll with spunk.

I think his physical development will be key to his eventual career success or other though.

Very crisp passing. And the speed he plays is encouraging. Given space many players will look talented, a big consideration is how they do when they don't get much time on the ball. It can be the difference between good players and the elite: the ability to make space and time and think quickly. Some player have it others don't. Mason for example, given space will run a game. He'll ping long passes, fire passes through midfield, give and go. But deny him space and time, and he's less effective. Modric on the other hand would take a pass in a confined space, turn to create room, and play the ball. Dembele is an anomaly he can see off anyone closing him down, but his distribution hasn't been as good, but this changed last year.

What looks good with Winks, is he's quick to move the ball. Almost like you're watching on fast forward. He looks to be able to move the ball away from players closing him down to create space. Hard to know without seeing him play, but he's certainly an impressive prospect.

Big fan of the Winksy, lets get rid of some of the players in his way that arent improving and see how he flourishes with more first team exposure.

If we arent going to do that, worth sending the kid on loan.

my what vision.
love it that he waits for the opposing player to commit before releasing the ball, and very often forwards, dictating how play should carry on

Watching that, the first thing that popped into my head was Michael Carrick.

Great prospect. Definitely needs a route into the first team squad.

Looks like a decent player, but from those videos alone I think he looks kinda one-footed, which also makes him spin in his place a lot, he turns with his right foot to avoid going to his left. Not a huge disatvange but something that won't help IMO

He's right footed, but the vid against Man UTD shows him using both feet and he does take a couple of really good shots on goal using his left.

I remember Alli, in one of his interviews for the club, saying the of all the team, Harry Winks knew the most about football. He said something like, "he knows everything about football." I love to hear that our players are obsessed with the game as it makes me hope they'll wring every ounce out the talent they have.

Personally I dont see too much difference between Winks and Wheelchair over the Goons, apart from Winks not being injured all the time. Have really high hopes for this guy

Wheelchair has done it against some of the best teams and Winks hasn't even started yet

What I liked the either day though was Winks trying to be different with his passes and also confident receiving the ball. Good characteristics for a centre mid

I can see him stepping into Carrolls/Bentelabs shoes in the squad now if given the chance

Wheelchair is the most over-rated player in the PL

There are plenty of over rated players in the league and I agree about wheelchair and Vardy but they have both done something to merit the hype even if it's now fully unjustified
