On this day...

Thought it could be fun to have a thread where you can post stuff that happened in previous years, preferably Spurs related. @mods if there already is such a thread, just delete/merge this.

On this day in 2011 we played AC Milan at the San Siro, and there was a bust up between Gattuso and Joe Jordan, and there were some epic comments afterwards.

Graeme Souness on Gattuso v Jordan: ”Gattuso’s a dog. I just wish now he could have 10 minutes in a room alone with Joe Jordan. Actually, it wouldn’t take that long, make it five minutes.”

”My money’s on Joe. There’s only one winner. You wouldn’t want to have a fight with Joe. Of all the people to pick on, don’t pick on Joe. He’s lucky Joe didn’t take his teeth out!” – Harry Redknapp.

Brilliant!!! what a night that was.

I so wanted Joe Jordan to knock Gattuso out then. I'm guessing being Italian he had no idea who he was picking on. Probably thought he was some wimpy old fella and the reaction if he'd been knocked out would've been class...

I'd completely forgot about Flamini's tackle though the jeb end.

When Ibra scored that night I felt distraught. When it got disallowed I celebrated like we'd scored a second.

Great memorizes!

How the fudge was that clam Flamini not sent off for that? Outrageous! Still makes my blood boil.

How about those incredible saves from Gomes too!

On another perhaps unrelated note: one thing we really miss at the moment is the handsomeness that Charlie and SexxxNiko brought to the squad, they were good looking fellas.

Jordan even took his glasses off. From a Telegraph article: 'On Gattuso's attempt to intimidate his assistant, Harry Redknapp said: "Joe was ready. He’d taken his glasses off at the end of the game." "I don’t know why it got so silly. Gattuso obviously hadn’t done his homework. He could’ve picked a fight with somebody else. Putting his head into Joe’s face, it was crazy." The image of a 59-year-old man calmly giving his glasses to a Tottenham sub to hold while he enjoyed a massive set-to is truly from another simpler, angrier era.'

Chivers was immense in that first game, there was a spell of about 18 months when he was one of the best around. Sadly his knee problems ended that.

On this day... we play Leciester, and a win will give us more points than they had when they won the title (after that racist gang bang lead to the sacking of their manager and the appointment of Ranieri). But I"m not bitter. If I was I'd point to the incredible luck they had along the way to the title - jammy last minute winners, last minute penalty decisions going their way, opponents (especially us) hitting the woodwork, the team chasing them in second place for much of the year having to play (iirc) FOUR matches on a Monday night after they'd players before. But I'm not bitter and I won't mention those things.
