*** Tottenham Hotspur v Woolwich *** OMT

Which winning team - the Villa one or the Anderlecht one?!

Alli is exhausted. He's gone off a cliff the last two matches. He needs resting for the sake of his long term development.

He needs some down time for sure ... a few games off, some training ground time again, then back to it ..

Top player and probably the most influential in the league

Definitely the danger man for that lot on Sunday. In a resurgent HK and a goal scoring Dembele, hopefully we'll have at least a couple of our own.

Tough one to call this. They're undoubtedly the favourites but our Sons of Poch certainly have it in them to grab a win there. COYS.

There was a great preview of the game on The Fighting rooster podcast that included a fantastic and detailed account of the rotten, fetid and corrupt origins of The Woolwich Nomads

I'm usually confident before a NLD but this time I'm a tad apprehensive. Perhaps it's a good thing I don't know.

I do think I'm more thoughtful than emotional in this instance and perhaps I'll go into the game more comfy (I've been drinking camomile tea a lot recently - it's been great!).

Where they will beat us is with experience. Where we can do them is with energy...

They are missing a lot of pacey players which should work for us but we must be clever and move the ball and make them work. Look at how Bayern unravelled them...

As long as it's not the officials being c*nts then the game can go either way based on the tactics of both teams...

Do we need to deploy someone on Sanchez or do we let them worry about us?

It's fantastic that we have Son back - he's very important to our play.

If we do play Alli, then he needs to be next to a suspension worry free Dier.

Shame there may be no Nigel for this (off the bench).

Looking at their fan forum, apart from the total arrogant bunch who post purely on the fact they hate us, they seem to have some potential injury worries in defence and attack (Konch and Bellerin injured?) but they appear to have confidence in their attacking trio of Sanchez, Ozil and Cazorla (Neymar, please confirm). As long as we have the energy then that could be promising for us.

I'll stop brain-dumping...

Dembele has to start because we'll do best against them if we keep the ball. If we let them have it and sit back, it's more than likely we'll lose.

---------------------Lloris
Walker Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose preferred over Davies
-----------------Dier Mason
----------Lamela Dembele Eriksen
--------------------Kane

I suspect if the game's going to be won, it'll only be by the odd goal either way.

Please can we not act like spoiled brats on Sunday. Rarely are officials SO awful that they completely turn a game. Most decisions we complain about we'd see completely differently the other way around

We have enough ability that the game is 50/50. I really don't see them as much better than us. Poch is doing an amazing job

Yep that's the key to it IMO. They're great in possession. brick without it.

At last we have some competition for places!! The real questions for Poch are:
- Mason or Alli in CM: I would go with Mason just given the amount of football Alli has had recently
- which 2 of Son, Lamela, Dembele or Alli play alongside Eriksen in the '3'. First name I would pick is Son as none of the others give his work-rate, pace and 'directness' (ie natural instinct to take his man on) and then, despite me not being his biggest fan, play Dembele given his confidence must be up at the moment.

I would therefore go with:

----------------------------Lloris---------------------

---Walker---Alderweireld---Vertonghen---Rose----

------------------Dier---------------Mason----------------

---------Son------==----Eriksen-------------Dembele

--------------------------Kane----------------------------

subs: Vorm, Trippier, Fazio, Carroll, Alli, Lamela, Njie (if fit)

If they were all fit, I would go with this too. But Son still looked off the pace on Thursday so I would have him on the bench again to start with and bring him on for the last 30 minutes to really stuff it up em.

It is particularly pleasing to see on here the near consensus on the team most of us would play on Sunday.

There are now only a few direct options Rose/Davies, Alli/Mason, Lamela/Son. It largely comes down to fitness and form between those guys. Nice to see our team evolving.

Once again they have a huge advantage, two days additional rest, recovery and prep time. It stinks. Especially as Anderlecht came at us so energetically, we had to dig so deep. We will have some jaded legs out there on Sunday when all else being equal one of our key advantages is superior fittest and energy.

Flip side is, that 5-1 drubbing by Bayern may have sunk deep into their psyche, whereas at least we're coming off the back of a victory born of fight and resolve as much as superior talent.

I can see a draw, hardly dare hope for more. But if we CAN do it, whhoooooooooooooo!!!

COYS.

Our fitness coaching and conditioning appears to be amongst the best in the league these days. We had eight days off before this run of three in six with the international break afterwards. I am sure that we will have done work to get the players to peak at the same time to get us through this run.
