*** OMT Spurs v Aston Villa ***

I am worried with Gested (?) and our crap defending at corners - I know we have a good defensive record but I panic every time we concede one as we are a bit of a shambles.

Gested is certainly the type that'd make me worry about Vertonghen and how flimsy he can be at times.

Having said that, Verys has mostly kept Benteke in his pocket over the years and i think he's better than Gested...here's hoping eh

The Guardian are publishing the PL match-previews and it's interesting that they list Mason as being on the 3 expected to start behind Kane, with Dier and Alli staying in the deep lying 2 midfielders. It will certainly be interesting to see if he does replace Dembele in that position on Monday..

didn't keep Origi on corners and if L'pool had any sense they should have played for corners at every opportunity as we were wnk. In fact every one we have played against we have been decidedly dodgy on corners without being punished.

Interesting; which other games do you think we've struggled with defending corners?
And who else do you think has bullied our Tintin duo?

Our CB's this season have been first class and I do not see them struggling ( overall) at corners at all.

I think Mason is/could be more attacking than Dembele, and we should be more aggressive with Villa.

That said, logic might be to give Mason anther sub appearance before full start

Id go as far as to say this is the strongest we've looked defending corners for as long as i can remember, although thinking about it we were also good at that during AVBs first season

True, but we seemed to dramatically go to pot on that front from about February onwards iirc

Who do people want to win the Liverscum v Chelscum match? What would the best result be for us before we play on Monday. I think maybe a bore draw.

I agree this is the best we have been for a very long time and its good to see. I have always worked on the basis that all good teams build from the back ( ie a strong defence) and then work on the rest.

From a purely "top 4"-perspective I'd rather have Liverpool win it than Chelsea. I still consider Chelsea a slightly larger threat in that respect.

A draw with plenty of injuries, suspensions and obligatory post-match tossing of toys out of pram from Mourinho would be optimal though IMO.

Draw is the best result. If we win against Villa we'll have a nice gap with both of them. It would continue the habit of getting draws for Liverpool and Jose will be under even more pressure from the media, fans and Abramovic, yet at the same time a draw against Liverpool doesn't really warrant a sacking, so he can continue causing chaos for a while longer.

Klopp to break Mourinho's nose and they both get sent to the stands for brawling. Both banned from entering the stadium for the next 100 games.

Under cover journalists discover a Fulham/Scouse footballer Coke ring.
