Toby Alderweireld

That's why I was really pushing for this to happen they play well together and will make us stronger. I feel sorry for Fazio though as I thought towards the end of the season he was looking as he had settled to the English game better.

Wimmer might get an EPL loan?

It's funny that, I was born and brought up in Northern Ireland. Spurs are fairly well represented and respected over here, not much hatred. I went to Uni in Saudi Sportswashing Machine and now have a variety of friends from all over england, and every single one of them fudgeing hates us. As a young 18 year old, I really didn't expect it.

I love it though!
I think the majority of non spurs fans I know hate us or do not like us much as a team but I'm not sure why!

When we were originally linked with getting this guy many questioned the logic saying that we were well stocked in CBs and that the issue was the midfield as to why we looked so vulnerable at the back.

The fact is we conceded the most goals in the top 13 last season in the PL (according to a stat I heard yesterday) and I don't accept this was just down to the midfield - none of our CBs and I include Verts in this performed that well at all. TA is a very good CB and will walk into our first team and will strengthen at the back.

If we'd had his solidity last season Id suggest our goals against column would have been a hell of a lot better, and would have been seriously looking at top 4....

I can agree with some of that and I am really happy to see Toby here, however IF we go into next season with just Mason and Bentaleb sat in front of the back four then we will still struggle.

Possibly - I wasn't suggesting there wasn't any issues with our CM from a defensive perspective. But we should have definitely done with strengthening our CB area, and we have so happy days....

Good to have this sorted out so early. Now focus on getting a strong CM and a good CF and we are in good shape imo. And of course get rid of Kaboul, Vlad and Ade. Maybe use Townsend in an exchange for whoever we want in. I'd keep Soldado unless we get a very good price.

"Having been royally mugged off by those north london cretins. I am fuming."

"Board rooster-up or not, if there were two bids of equal value on the table, thinking logically and all emotion to one side, who do we think TA would have chosen?
As far as I'm concerned when it comes to philosophy and class we trounce Spurs into the ground, but unfortunately those values probably mean very little to most pro-footballers these days. He's gone to his preferred club IMO and TA's actions in doing so "speaks volumes"."

"Us tbh, considering there's not much between the two teams on the pitch and he spent last season here."

"And furthermore it seems to have escaped everyone that Athetico did not want him !?!? There must be reason for that and I think we have seen it ,,, he is not the "utility" player some say he is , he was clearly a centre back , and one who seems a tad injury prone... Would not surprise me if this signing comes back to haunt Spuds.... Also Yoshi for me is an improving player and has still to get to his best.... So long as we have decent cover in the centre of defence then I am not gutted about this...."

"Maybe we should be flattered that spurs clearly want to be the next Southampton

Predictable stuff being posted by some, "he's ѕhіt, anyway", "he's injury-prone", etc. Exactly the same nonsense that would appear on here if we'd lost another player to Chuffski or someone in similar circumstances, in other words, so you've got to feel for them. Testament to the progress they've made that we and Liverpool have paid such close (ahem) attention to what they've been trying to do. Does feel more than a tad parasitic, in honesty, but it's only reflective of the state of the modern game, regrettably.

get it right, it's "north london yobbo's"

Toby is light years ahead of Jan on the ball. If your talking about inconsequential drag backs every blue moon then give the award to Jan.
If your talking about vision/penetrating passes which actually amount to something then it's not even close.

Youl see

Welcome Toby

'You think you are a big club but you aren't really' is the one that gets thrown at me most. Ironically, this normally comes from a Saudi Sportswashing Machine fan and a West Ham fan.

Simply out its Because we're the best of the rest
We're currently competing with Liverpool for a place in the top 5...

Liverpool in my day were unsailable and were the benchmark but now simply don't have the money

If your looking up like teams should you need to look a few places above you each season and were the tail of the top teams

The problem sides like West Ham, Poocastle and SCBC have is that they have no reputation outside of there own patch (very regional sides) and they simply haven't won anything on modern history

You need to at least compete in europe for anyone to take note and you also need to have some success on the pitch otherwise your standing still

Yes we haven't won a trophy for 8 years but that's 8 years less than 95% or the sides in the league

Ohhh they have plenty of money alright! It's just that clueless idiot Brenton that has no clue how to spend it wisely!

I don't think they have. Their owners are only worth about £500m and do not put their ownonwy into anything they buy after buying it (they don't mortgage the club like the glazers) it's why they went for moneyball

I also agree they don't really know what to do transfer wise now as I think there unsure of who they can shift

I think their wage bill will have come down massively over the last few years too as there not paying the top wages to squad player like they and arsenal used to and that will become apparent
