Dubbed the 'new Thierry Henry', Martial is known for his devastating pace and clinical finishing.

Spurs are currently in the process of a major overhaul although they haven't been able to bolster their attacking line up.

Martial is set to move on with the 18-year-old finding first team chances at Monaco limited.

Wolfsburg were also tracking the youngster, but reports in France indicate Spurs have tabled a £15.8m bid and they are hopeful of luring him to White Hart Lane.

It is believed Martial is concerned that his career is stalling at Monaco.

And with Tottenham building a young squad, it could be the perfect stepping stone for his career.

Never heard of him???? seem a lot of money but maybe a Baldini signing??

If Falcao goes to Real Madrid, sorry, I mean Liverpool obviously, won't this create an opportunity for Martial at Monaco or is he still down the pecking order?

Martial towards Tottenham

AS Monaco and Tottenham would have agreed to the transfer of Anthony Martial for nearly 25 million. The 19-year-old, trained at the OL, has a profile that pleases the Spurs coach, Mauricio Pochettino. The latter did oversee several times before being finally convinced when winning 3-1 to Monaco at the Emirates Stadium against Arsenal in the Champions League in February. Martial, 9 goals in 35 Ligue 1 matches this season, is seen as a potential new Thierry Henry in the UK. He had been much talk of him at Spurs last summer.

Yes please. Out of all the Monaco youngsters this guy has something, although I'd be surprised if we were alone in being interested.

Jason Burt has re-hashed the same story in the Telegraph, he has not said it is a done deal.

According to a dude on SC the Monaco forums are upset but many are convinced it is the agent trying to get a better deal.

It would be very interesting to see how we lined up if this transfer did go through.

Kane and him interacting like Lambert and Rodriguez did at Southampton when Poch was in charge?? I could see that, with Lamela being given the freedom behind them and Eriksen being asked to play a role in a midfield three with Bentaleb and one other.

Hold on where does this guy play? £25m for someone who only scored 9 goals in a brick league?

He is a RWF, is 19 and scored 9 out of 10 goals last season in 2015, he scored 6 in his last 9 games last season.

I don't think the French league is that crud personally but that's my opinion of course.

Would rather save our pennies and give a youngster or 2 a go.

You know how everyone complains that we don't sign Bonys from Arnhems. This is one of those moments.

If we were going to pay £15-18m for Jay Rodriguez last summer, this would be a very similar player with probably a higher ceiling. Would be good cover/competition for both Kane and Chadli

Bony's didn't cost £25m.

Pretty sure I've seen €25m quoted. So, closer to £18m. That would probably equate to £14m + add-ons if Levy has anything to do with it. And that's definitely an amount I'd risk on one of the hottest prospects in French football. Maybe it won't work out, but we're bound to get back a big chunk of the £18m if we sell in a few years - he'll still be young enough for another big-ish club to take a punt in him fulfilling his potential. I seriously don't see a major downside to this.

All academic though. He'll go to a bigger (i.e. richer) club than us IMO.
