Clinical trials??

Anyone done any before?

I'm having a screening for 'flu camp' this week. Upto 3k for 10-14 days with a strain of flu or cold.

Own room, 3 meals a day and playstation for starters.

Wondering if anybody has done anything like this before, would like to know about their experience!

On 13 March 2006, six healthy young volunteers took part in a clinical trial and became violently ill minutes after having been injected with a drug developed to fight autoimmune disease and leukaemia [1-5]. One of the two additional volunteers injected with a placebo who showed no ill effects recalled to newspaper reporters [2]: ÔÇ£The men went down like dominoes. They began tearing their shirts off complaining of fever, then some screamed that their heads were going to explode. After that they started fainting, vomiting and writhing around in their beds.ÔÇØ

are they injecting you with the flu virus or something ?

for 3k id be up for that shiznit

Flucamp.com for those interested.

Hopefully I get in, that'll pay of my last notch of debt, awesome!

You get given a weak strain of flu (by tablet or in the form of a nasal spray) then treat you with their medicines etc.

Sounds like a piece o pizz

So when a new poster called Jeannie Ray turns up on here claiming to have memory loss, post-op scars and a yearning for c*ck, we'll know you didn't get the placebo... Yeah... Flu...

I get the flu all the time anyhows, so to be paid ?ú3k to contract it and then get better... easy money, easy days!! Let me know how it goes and I'm tempted to sign up too for the next one.

How do they know you will only have a cold for 10-14 days though? I've had a cold for up to a month before!

Absolute insanity IMO.

Please think this through before you do it, you are making yourself a human guinea pig for ?ú3K.

I'll let you know what more I find out at the screening on Wednesday.

The idea only came up as I'm not going on any holidays this year so got plenty of annual leave. Don't particularly need the money, but thought as I'm not doing anything anyway, might see what it's about. Gives me a bit of shopping money!

load of my mates at Uni did it to pay through Uni, got loads of cash and 3 meals a day plus cab fares to and from. one got ?ú3k iirc.

however: http://www.news-medical.net/news/2008/12/15/44237.aspx
and: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/4807042.stm
and most sadly, this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-win-2million-payout-losing-toes-fingers.html

Raises an interesting question. Would you give up your toes and the tips of your fingers for 2 mill? I know plenty of people who'd jump at that! If a case of cash was infront of you, you'd have to ask the question!

Hell no

?ú3k is nothing at all

Maybe for ?ú50k and if I knew more about it

Anything could happen, you could have all sorts of long lasting complications for 30 years... hardly worth ?ú3k now is it?

My mates got an all-expense trip to Guatemala in return for testing some anti-diarrhoea medicines whilst out there. Both of them were fine...and had an amazing holiday by the sounds of it.

I wouldn't give up my fingers and toes for ?ú2m, the amount of money sounds like a lot but it doesn't make up for the lost quality of life. In addition to that, the guy can't have prosethic feet made as the skin hasn't healed properly, according to the article.

I do think, however, that it is highly unlikely that any such complications arise and I would rather than people were tested with the drugs than animals.
