With only two strikers it seems like a good idea for us to sign someone in January. We also don't want to be spending much if we are going to try for Moutinho or Willian again. So with Demba Ba's £7.5m transfer clause coming up in January, surely he is a much better option than someone like Llorente or of that calibre because we can have a goalscorer and have money for Moutinho or Willian.

Opinions?

We could do a lot worse and if the release clause is accurate he could be very good value for money.

He has also done alright in multiple roles for Saudi Sportswashing Machine, I think he could do well alongside Ade or ahead of Sig/Dempsey as our primary goalscorer, but he could probably also do well alongside Defoe with more creative responsibility.

To me he seems like a "complete striker", in that he can do a bit of everything, is big and strong so can be a threat from crosses and someone we can lump it long to when needed, but he also does the technical bits and of course he scores goals. Very few of those strikers around. PL proven too, always a bonus.

He's unlikely to pass a medical, so I think that we are unlikely to consider signing him unless he was going for peanuts

Any statement about a player that starts 'we could do a lot worse' tells you pretty much all you need to know. :p

Do not want. Good player, but from what I've read, his body has a short expiry date.

Given our track records with injuries, we'd be lucky to get 3 games in a row out of him.

Well technically, we could also do a lot worse than Messi...

We are in a good position as it is, wholesale changes in January are not needed. PL experienced, good player who would give us some real options sounds pretty good to me.

He wants £90k a week and will go somewhere he can get that. He's been trying to get Wenger interested, but in the end his greed will come before any sporting ambitions. QPR it is.

You can't blame the guy for asking. But you can blame the club or clubs who respond. I would be surprised if he gets a favourable response even from QPR.

What a load of bull! This crap about player "greed" really takes the biscuit.

He is a proven PL striker who ran United ragged today on his own; Evans and Ferdinand together couldn;t handle him. He has played consistently game in game out for two years now - if that is a bad knee, then a good one would be bionic.

He would cost 20mill on the market yet available for 7. And would command wages of 65K. The difference to top up the wage to 90K would be 7 million over three years. Still a bargain.

My point still stands. He will go to a bottom half club if they paid him £90k, rather than one of the better teams and be on £70k.

Demba Ba a no brainer..

The guy is seriously good and is single handedly keeping Saudi Sportswashing Machine in this game against the Goons.

He's proving he's not a one season wonder..

We should buy him tomorrow.. He's just the player we need upfront to rotate with Defoe and Ade and in our price bracket.

Do it now Daniel!

I really think we should take him off Saudi Sportswashing Machine in January

He doesn't want to be up north anyway

Get him in for 3 million

Would really support Defoe & Adebayor and increase competition for places

Ashley will want it to, being a yid

You're trying to make a point because Greg didn't get banned earlier?

hopefully Diego performs a heel turn and bans you anyway despite it not being fair.
