I just crave the day when we have tactics, shape and a plan again. Players bought to play in a defined system, possibly even with a plan B when things aren't working out.

Its been literally about 15 months since we had shape and tactics and I can't take much more. Surely things will improve in that respect after a full preseason with Jose. Surely?

Things will only improve if he gets backed in the market with the overhaul, which is the same situation the previous manager was in funnily enough

Hmm. Maybe. In that case let's hope that the current manager differentiates himself from his predecessor by not threatening to quit the club on the eve of its biggest match for a generation - might encourage the powers that be to relax the purse strings.

People still fooling themselves that they didn't take that quote wildly out of context? Ok

Funny conclusion to reach also as it was the last match played before the purse strings were in fact loosened...

Anyway, how we all finding the improved big game management that Mourinho has bought?

Negative , 5 Big Games , Chekski ,Liverpool,City , RB and Chelski again.

Lucky to win against City lost the rest. Throw in Villa and Southampton I’d say we were fortunate there to.

Our defence is awful , Toby getting a new contract looks a bit of a mistake to me. Can’t say the low block is working we look guaranteed to concede even in that system.

Negative tactics with a majority of players who want to play on the front foot . We’ve not got a team of cloggers. Players want to play . Maybe we should defend from the front. Try play some football instead of launching balls to all 5ft odd of Moura.

Yes he’s lost players to injury but it is what it is. Parrot not ready well bring him in slowly 10-15 here and there. CF is a specialist position , You lose 2-3 GKs you have no other choice but to turn to what you have in the case a youth prospect.

Set our stall out with a Negative outlook will have an effect on performance in my opinion.

Yes i read that article, where Crouch retells a jokey phone call he recieved from Mouringo after he made a tweet about coming to play for us - did you mean to link to a different one?

You really think Jose is in the mood or even has the time to get Peter’s number and then go make a jokey call to him all for a laugh? You think he did the jokey call and then once the laughter was put to bed they would then catch up about old times because you think they are some kind of old friends? No of course not because they are far from close comrades from years gone by.

Its very clear when you look at our desperate situation and that Crouch as unattached was our only possible option to help us get by. He is also only retired since last summer and is a big unique target man which certainly fits the mourinho mould.

Its very obvious to me and most people that phone call was a shot in the dark that he might be somewhere close up to speed to help us out. Very jokey and plenty of laughter at first I’m sure, but quite clearly given the situation we are in, it would have quickly been replaced with a serious question whether he could assist. Crouch says as much:

‘‘As much as I would love to answer his call, however, I concluded — given the refuelling I've done since entering retirement — that it might take me a little longer than normal to recapture full fitness.’’

You make it sound like he was calling jimmy greaves up mate and tbh I didnt think I’d have to go into all of the above as its blatantly obvious, but there it is, all for you as you clearly need a helping hand.

We did have a shape yesterday, just htat it was a very negative one.

Losing yesterday was simply a case of Jose getting the tactics wrong. Defending so deep, back 5 rather than back 3 or 4,...he just messed up. We should have defended higher up the pitch, either played with wingbacks or a back 4

Incredible.

Now Mourinho wants Chris Kamara?! Will it never stop.
Re: Crouch. Pretty sure the registration window is closed, so wouldn't be able to play for anyone except Barcelona anyway.
I know we are desperate for a striker but surely we can't be that desperate. Crouch the first time was bad enough.

I particularly like the idea that Crouch would turn down 50k + a week for 6 months because he didn't think he would get up to fitness quick enough :D
