Yes that is the point. When we took the game to them, they were shakey, fouling and hanging on. We needed to impose our skill on them earlier.

I do think it was partly them tiring, plenty to be hopeful about in the second leg though, this is the strongest position we’ve been in in a two legged tie since we got back into the European Cup

His spell at United? Which part the trophies he won there or the highest place finish of any United manager post Ferguson?

I’m all for criticising the guy when he has a full team and plays crappy football etc, but when he has limited choice on players, no striker etc and no pre season it’s a bit ott

Maybe so in some parts, it’s the negative football that does me in. We just set the stall out and invite teams on. We do it but don’t look like keeping sides out. The defence is fragile. The full backs are not good enough.

He here and is what it is. But for me we look lost as a team and that comes from the manager.

Positives... We're still in it and we show some of our quality towards the end.

With Son and Kane out it feels to me that we're quite desperate for someone to really step up. Time will tell if that will happen before the return leg.

Thought Ndombele and Lamela were positive from the bench.

We really struggled in that first half in particular. Will probably have to live with something similar in the return leg even though they're ahead. Need to deal with it better than we did today, or rely on poor finishing and Lloris once again. Not looking good, but we're in it.

No I’m judging him on his spell at United and what I’m seeing here . No different. What was all the crap about a different Jose ?? Tactics are the same. Regardless of players missing.

We are pitiful. Don’t even look solid at the back when we sit in.

Sorry that it does not agree with how you see it but the day he goes I’ll be a happy man.
your judging him when he was at United and here for 3 months..
wow
At United he inherited a squad with 10 centre backs and one striker
He was always gonna have to do something clever and it would when helped I guess if the expensive attacking talent could actually play

here he has had so many players out injured it crazy

They tired as they didn’t have possession
We had it and smothered the midfield

Nah nonsense Jose can only use what he has at his disposal. What do you honestly expect different in the starting eleven tonight.

You could argue start with Lamela and Ndombele but both players can’t do 90 mins at the moment so in my opinion he did the right thing by putting them in the bench and bringing them on, on the 60 min mark.

The only thing I would have done different tonight was sub Moura instead of Alli

A team, A drilled side that know what they are doing. When the side transitioned from attack to defence for instance we were all over the place. On numerous occasions there was an overload on the flanks.

Jose did not address it till it was to late and we were behind.

We can’t do anything about injuries so starting 11 is what it is.

From what I’ve read that finishing is normal for them. They miss a lot of chances in Germany and then get caught by the better sides (their aren’t many)

Was actually surprised by Gedson. Sure he's a little raw, but he has pace and touch.

The frustrating thing about that game is we have a lot of talented players. Using them as a defensive block for 45 mins was a waste. By all means, play a conservative deep game, but don't gift possession back to them constantly. We need to be able to use the ball when we get possession, not just pump it up the field.

I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me how to tactically beat better teams with inferior low confidence players and no front men.

We've looked lost as a team for the last 12 months before he even came.

It’s is
And thats not the side he would have been playing 2 days ago... 2 days ago we had son up top
That’s fudging hard for any coach to work with
Everything he has been planning goes out the window and he has to come up with another plan
What’s key is he made a change when he should have and yeah it didn’t get the goal but he saw a system there that had creative and chances (something we didn’t have before hand)

There are a lot of ways to view that game. The performance wasn't great for most of the game but good for 20 mins.

Ndombele looks fudging amazing on the ball but his attitude stinks. Him and Lo Celso together could be frightening. Shame they have fudge all in front of them right now. I don't see where our goals will come from. Lamela was top class when he came on. Looked like the player I thought we signed.

Hugo was excellent. Sanchez was very, very good. Fernandes and Bergwijn started well but faded badly. Lo Celso is just wonderful to watch.

Glass could be half empty with tinkle or half full of champagne. For my sanity, I'm going with half full.

You are absolutely correct, the potential of Ndomb, Gedson and GLC is something to be hopeful about.

Why dont you do a gutterboy and give up till he leaves and let the rest of us support the team.

We really don’t have inferior players
Low confidence yeah
And also a team that’s lost 33 goals
They had injuries too but it’s easier patching up a defence than an attack
