So much wrong with this post I have no idea where to start. Lamela is NOT the best attacker at the club. Kane, Alli, Son, Eriksen and Moura’s output is greater than Lamela’s. To suggest he is our best attacker when he averages about 4-5 goals a season is laughable.

Correct! Best leave it, he is happy in his world.

Depends on which output you care about, personally I favour xR, xFFC and xJtGT, all of which he is light years ahead of any other player in the game.

For those not up with Opta’s latest categories, that’s, Expected Rabona’s, Expected Fabregas Finger Crushing, and, of course, Expected Jurgen the German triggers.

also, you want to bring goals as a metric I care about, how long have we been doing this ;)

It was good to see a few of our players getting their form back, our team play still lacks cohesion though but i do see progress. Work in progress but we are/seem to be getting players fit again and out new boys seems to be getting acclimatized into the team.

Lo Celso was MOM and Tanaganga was good again.

Just read the liverpool first team and manager won't be taking part in their 4th round replay because of the scheduled winter break...

Wow. Amazing. Good for him/them!

More to the point that will mean our replay with Southampton will be scheduled for the 'winter break' and so if we are to be fielding our usual side we shall be at a disadvantage compared to the rest of the league who get the break uninterrupted...

Absolutely understood mate. Mourinho was complaining about the possibility beforehand and I agree with him. It is a joke. We should be asking for another resolution. Again though, good for Klopp.

I managed to see the game in the end and, oddly enough, it still feels like a win. Maybe I expected more from Southampton and Ings but, at the end of the day, they looked fairly ineffectual. They had a couple of good chances but, bar for a short spell of 15 minutes in the second half, they barely troubled our defence. On the other hand, we managed a decent amount of quick, one-touch moves. On another day, we would have killed the game by the time they finally managed to wake up.

The only thing I find really disappointed is that we didn't look like we were trying to hard to score a second once we finally broke the deadlock. Nobody looked completely out of place or out of space, despite Mourinho tweaking the back four again. We're not as dominant as we once were but it does feel like we're going somewhere, even more so when you put the last 3-4 performances together.

Who knows, a couple of decent signings and we might even salvage something from this season...

Agreed, with the nippy wee passers in midfield we looked quite good at times.

Nice to have you back, Mr Goggles

Yes, it's nice to be back too! Truth be told, I've been lurking around every now and then but, much like Darren Anderton after that infamous QPR game, I knew I'd never be the same (poster) again. Sometimes, I wonder how I found the time to watch 8-10 games per week and post thousands of (mostly useless) messages here. These thoughts held me back for some time and then, a couple of weeks ago, I decided I might as well add my two pence to the debate, no matter how irrelevant they may be.

Went to Southampton on Saturday(home end) but did a schoolboy error Saturday should have found out first where the singing corner was at St Mary's stadium .....kept it in when Son scored, but when they scored ,yeah loved it when they were all jumping around me in the 87th minute,to be honest i could see it coming we were conceding so much possession in the last ten minutes ,constantly giving the ball away so it wasn't a surprise when they did score.

Finally got to watch this match and I thought we played rather well. The ball got popped around nicely and i thought we commanded the match for the most extent. Lo Celso was obviously very good, Winks continued on his recent upsurge in performances. Generally all around I was quite happy, obviously the finishing let us down and some typical running into cul de sacs by Son and Dele but overall I can't really complain.

I feel like the last few games have started to coalesce into a cohesive shape and system. We most lack a proper striker at the mo and that will continue to be an issue, but Son is starting to get goals again so maybe he is about to start one of his runs. Very pleased with what I'm seeing from midfield, it's not perfect but we actual had control and purpose it's was very pleasing to see.

The goal was a shame and we aren't yet back to the wall that we were at times u fee Poch but I can see it developing, there are signs. We are conceding fewer good chances each game. We are getting there....slowly.
