'Now the FA cups an occasion, next best to Christmas day'

Saturday 25th January 2020

St Mary's - 3pm KO

A proper traditional 3pm Saturday KO 4th round FA Cup tie....with 5,316 of us lot invited.

Will be tough BUT if someone could step up like Ronny did that night I can roll home drunk.

I remember that game and i think it was one that was brought up when Grob was accused of match fixing.

I wouldn't blame Grob for a lot of that, we cut through them many times - unless their whole defence was in on it

Play more or less our strongest 11; I'd bring Tanganga and Sanchez in order to keep them fresh and match fit. Play Ndombele and Lo Celso in CM to see whether they can begin to gel as a partnership. Son up top rather than Moura

---------------------------------Lloris--------------------------------

---Tanganga-----Alderweireld--------Sanchez-----Sessengon-----

-------------------Ndombele-----------Lo Celso------------------

----Lamela-------------------Dele------------------Moura--------

--------------------------------Son-----------------------------------

After his fine performance against Norwich, how could you drop Aurier!,, I would like to see Sess at LWB with Verts behind him. Moura should be benched so we have an attacking option on the bench ( should JM continue to ignore Parrot).

So my team would be:

...............................Lloris................................

.......Toby...................Sanchez................Verts

Aurier...........................................................Sess

.....LoCelso.............NDombele.....Fernandez

.............................Son..... Dele

Lloris
Aurier, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Tanganga
Ndombele, Gedson
Lucas, Dele, Lo Celso
Son

Gazzaniga, Vertonghen, Sessegnon, Dier, Skipp, Lamela, Parrott

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lloris
Aurier ~~ Sánchez ~~ Alderweireld ~~ Vertonghen
~~~~~~~ Lo Celso ~~~~~ Ndombele
Moura ~~~~~~~~~~ Alli ~~~~~~~~~~ Sessegnon
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Son
Gazzaniga Tanganga Dier Skipp Fernandes Lamela Parrott
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lloris
Aurier ~~ Sánchez ~~ Alderweireld ~~ Sessegnon
~~~~~~~ Lo Celso ~~~~~ Ndombele
Lamela ~~~~~~~~~~ Alli ~~~~~~~~~~ Moura
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Son

Final plea. If anyone has a spare for the away end then I’m your man and I’d be grateful if you could PM me.

Thanks.

FA Cup remains our only realistic chance of winning a trophy this season. But we failed to impress against Boro, needing a replay to beat them in Round 3. We need to improve our performance greatly if we want to go all the way to win the FA Cup this season. Southatmpton away in Round 4 is not an ideal match for us. We have a mediocre record against Southampton in recent years, winning 2 and losing 2 of our last 4 matches against them. In fact, we have lost our last 2 matches at Southampton. So, this is going to be another tough match for us.

Our attack need to improve if we want to win this match. We have badly missed Kane ever since he got injured. Others like Alli, Son, Moura, Lamela really need to step up and get us the goals. We cannot afford to waste many chances against Southampton as they can hurt us. We really should try more long range shots instead of always trying to dribble into goal.

Our midfield have been troubled by too many injury problems this season. Wish Ndombele will be fit to play in this match. We have already missed Sissoko who is out injured until April. Not sure why Mourinho don't want to play Wanyama despite our curent injury problems. With Winks now injured, we really don't have much options in midfield. Lo Celso did well in midfield against Norwich but he needs to improve his finishing.

Our defence have been struggling badly this season. We have looked like conceding goals in all our matches. Alderweireld and Vertonghen don't look as strong in defence as before. Mourinho really needs to improve our defending if we want achieve anything this season. It was good to see Lloris returning from injury against Norwich. Hope Lloris can organize our defence and help us keep more clean sheets.

This is going to be another tense match for us. Southampton will make it tough for us. Let's hope we will turn up with the right team and mentality to beat Southampton and progress to the next round of the FA Cup.

Everybody dance now!

With we can overcome all our injury problems soon. We need to get an early goal to help us settle our nerves and then go for more goals to kill the game off. Let's hope we will put up a good performance and get the much-needed win to progress to the Round 5 of the FA Cup.

I know some fans have expectations about the FA Cup this year because "Mourinho wins things".

But he's only won this competition once. The league cup was always his trophy.

The players really don't have a fudge about it. I'm expecting a Europa league group stage levels of effort.

And City (without a title race), United (they need something), Leicester (safe in 3rd) and Arsenal (nothing else to play for) are all desperate to win this.
