I’ll remember this game in 20 years as “the one where Erik was sad, but then he was happy, but then he was sad, and then he was happy”.

Is there a danger he's developed Alexis Sanchez/Torres/Shevchenko syndrome where he won't be able to recover it I wonder?

Maybe he's lost something physically. But I think its mainly mental - a bruised ego. I think he can recover. He'll never be combative, but he still has touch and skills just needs to settle in a new club - which I think he will at the end of the window. Only 28.

The annoyance at the final chance isn’t that alli missed, it’s that a pass guaranteed a goal, we have to get better at decision making.

You’re really struggling with all these foreigner sounding names aren’t you! :D:D

Luckily for me, you're on it tonight! I watched us in a CL youth game last season and Tanwanga stood out then. Wasn't sure if it was just his greater physicality making him look better than the rest. What's promising is he can do the simple things - be aware, position himself i.e. defend. Aurier just doesn't have awareness. So while we have to give him time, he offers pace, power, and some defensive nouce. But he will make the odd mistake. He's not perfect defensively yet as we saw against Pool. Baby steps.

He has deteriorated to such an extent, he can't even kick a stationary ball correctly! Would love to see his forward to backward /sideways passing tonight. Every forward pass was poor.

That was pretty ugly. As soon as they came at us we looked shaky.

I know everyone knows we have issues at CM but I couldn’t believe what I saw on 75:30ish. (Someone cleverer than me can pull up the clip). Dier passed to Eriksen, who could have turned into open space and move forward. He poked it backwards back to Dier who then passed it straight to their player. A simple shout of ‘turn’ to Eriksen which you learn at 10 years old and we would have been on our way.

Eriksen I’m not bothered about as he’s on his way but Winks and Dier just continually look to turn towards the defence instead of the other way.

Is this what they are being coached? Is this due to a lack of movement in front of them and they’ve lost confidence to look that way?

This Gedson fella won’t have to be amazing to get a run in there imo.

I fear for Dier I really do.

Its difficult to know how much his illness is impacting him, and whether next season he'll be better. At the moment though, he looks a shadow of his former self - kind of a bit under-powered and lacking energy and power. The old Dier would be a massive asset for us; the current one would be shipped out

He can’t even pass!
