The Goon Thread - Officially Second In A One Horse Race

It's amazing that a team where most of the players can't wait to get on social media and tell the "fans" how much they hate Spurs and they love Woolwich can't be bothered to show any passion for their club, fans or managers when they get on the pitch. If Arteta can turn that around he'll be doing a fantastic job.

Robbie is meant to be earning a decent living off of it. The problem is that the more incendiary film will get shared wider, viewed more and earn him more money.

I have to admit I love watching Claude. I am not altogether sure why -the hounding face, the bellowing, the sheer air of futility he often projects- but I do enjoy watching his post-match rants. He's a bit like a fat Sid James on quaaludes...

He has admitted to suffering from depression.

If Arteta doesn't hit the ground running, I can see it going very badly indeed. Could genuinely be relegation potential. No one has a clue what his head coach chops are.

He has no experience managing an entire group on his own, nor the pressure and expectation of a totally disgruntled fanbase. He's only coached in cushy positions, as far as I'm aware.

I really hope it goes tits up.

Hiding to nothing, and cant think of how it will go well (Ill wait a few months and see if this one comes back to bite me...)

His "excellent coaching" all happened under one of the greatest managers in generations with an oil funded fantasy football team.

Going into Arsenal will be a night and day experience in comparison.

Their squad is basically brick, with all the talent reserved for the forwards who are all temperamental to say the least.

Not only is the squad poor, its also ill balanced and has a deeply ingrained terrible attitude. The very definition of a petulant fairweather team.

For a top manager, an experienced manager this is a big job with no guarantee of success.

For a rookie? I think the odds are stacked well against.

Even if he really is the dogs danglies, he will still be on a steep learning curve, and will still make mistakes as he learns the job - WHILE having to completely rebuild a club (something plenty of experienced managers just dont have in them).

It looks to me, on the face of it at least, to be absolutely ripe for disaster.

Claude is a stand up guy. The only one I can stomach watching for more than a few minutes. DT and a couple of the other guys (but especially DT), you just feel like punching.

Sad.
Feel sorry the bloke and hope he is in full control of his ticket.

Truth be told, I think we all have a bit of the Claudian football fan in us, which is perhaps why it seems a fair few of us are prepared to
say he is seemingly an OK bloke.
He's honest about us as well. Given us enough credit when it's been due.

Crackers has had him on 'oh when the Spurs' podcast.

Was watching - forced to by DAZN - the post-match analysis with Ghoddle, Tony Adams and Michael Owen. Which was actually a decent conversation. They put up Arsenal's next few games and it's not a fun run.

Man U, FA Cup vs.Leeds, @ Palace, SheffU, @Chelsea, @Burnley, Saudi Sportswashing Machine, @City, with two EL matches against a very beatable Olympiacos in Feb.

Could see them losing most of those games.

They might think the sked eases in March playing WHU, Brighton, Southampton and Norwich, but the south coast duo are beginning to play good football and Moyes may well revive WHU by then.

They're only six points clear of the bottom three. If that doesn't improve by the end of March, you could see that Norwich match becoming a vital relegation six-pointer because here's their run in:

@Wolves, Leicester, @SPURS, Liverpool, @Villa.

Granted, with Liverpool wrapping up the title by mid-March, they might not be the same challenge, but they'll still be difficult to beat.

Always said this in jest about them, but for once, it just might be for real.

Serious relegation fears.

Nice dream but we've got more chance winning the league.
