Christian Eriksen

The terrible thing about this is that he contributed so much under Poch and, despite some limitations, was considered a real hero by most of us. For whatever reason, he's bricking all over his legacy because the last few months will be difficult for anyone to forget.
I feel his legacy is done now, the attitude and lack of effort in the past year has done it

Until we know what is going on with Eriksen’s personal life I think we should all shut up!
Other than one extremely spurious rumour is there any indication of troubles in his private life?
Were you so sympathetic with say soldado who went through a bad time with his wife and a miscarriage, or huddlestone and his family issues?
If he has a problem, go to the manager and ask for some time out, I'm sure he would have had our full support.
Don’t stink the place out like a spoilt teenage girl who can't get the hunky boyfriend she wants to notice her.

This is sad to read coming from you.
That's the first I've heard about Soldado and Huddleston problems. But yes I would have every sympathy for Soldado in particular.
Eriksen sounds like has told the manager and I personally will leave it there and wish him well.

What's he told the manager? And as he still gets onto at least the bench the manager isn't listening.

What he has told Jose is private. I like Jose is keeping his confidence.
Surmising to "on the bench" bit. Eriksen may feel keeping busy or let us say 'working' might be beneficial him at this time.

I have no issue with Eriksen, he is doing what is best for him and is being honest about it, my problem is with the managers who continue to play him.
As for your disappointment in me, I don't understand why.
If he has issues I give him all the support I can and hope the club does the same. But the point is that there is absolutely no evidence of outside problems.
You're jumping two conclusions, one I'm a heartless clam, and two Eriksen has dropped form on personal problems.
One isn't relient on the other of course, but I know for a fact one of them is wrong, I'll let you work out which one it is :).

Wow @glasgowspur, you are making it all sound so straightforward. Guilty until proved innocent eh?

Every player on the planet has spells of poor form, sometimes they can last for many months. Often it's because there are things going on with them that we never get to hear about, or only once they've come through them.

Sometimes, as in extremely sad cases such as that of Gary Speed, only when it's too late. Please remember they are not robots, nor superhuman. Until this past six months or so few argued that Eriksen did not give his all every game.

It's only a suspicion but to me he looks like someone playing through some kind of mental affliction, something he is just unable to overcome. Maybe you've been lucky but most of us go through this kind of difficulty at some time or another in our lives.

Of course I could be totally wrong, it could be his attitude stinks and he's sticking two fingers up because he can no longer be arsed, but he just doesn't strike me as that kind of bloke.

It's for these kind of reasons that some of us at least are prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt until we hear otherwise.

I don’t know the reasons for this rapid decline.
Jose has said it is private.
I was wondering what you were on about... but I can see what you mean (bolded below)

Mourinho, though, would not be drawn on exactly what Eriksen has told him.

'I only know his contract ends at the end of the season and the conversations I have had with Christian are private conversations that I am not going to share,' he said.

'I think it is a personal thing. I am not going to share.

'He was so honest with me and I was so honest with him that our relationship is really, really good.

'We have a very good relationship that started on day one. I am not going to betray that trust and relationship.

'I just share these intimate conversations with the structure of the club, and Christian obviously knows I am an important part of the club and my job is to share with the structure but to you, it is not for me to say.

The Denmark international is understood to have told Mourinho of his plans to leave the club

'It is up to Christian to tell anything he wants to or not.'

Eriksen's chances of a move to a top European club have been hindered by a severe dip in form recently.

His relationship with fans has begun to suffer as a result, but Mourinho is standing by his man.

'Every time I play him I think he shows clearly the quality he has and he tries to help the team when he's on the pitch, which is an important thing for me, independent of his future,' Mourinho said.

'Every player has ups and downs and sometimes it's not because of contracts, it's because of other things. I really don't feel comfortable to speak about his situation.

'Is he a fantastic player? Of course he is but I cannot say more.'

When did all this surface about his personal problems, first I've seen it is actually after I read your post and seen the post @Bullet put up.
If he has issues then I am disappointed that the club/managers are putting him in the spotlight when it is clearly doing him no good.

I think too much has somehow been interpreted from what Jose has said there. Perhaps as Glasgow mentioned, the smell from the nonsense rumour about Jan is still wafting around too.

I read Jose’s comment as pure deflection from the basic truth he cannot say, but the papers are saying.

The ‘sometimes personal reasons’ strikes me as no more than Eriksen and/or his Mrs fancy a change of scene, a change of country or whatever.

Not that Eriksen is the new Gary Speed! That’s one hell of a leap - and selling him isn’t exactly the cure for suicidal thoughts! He’d need proper professional help and very likely shouldn’t be training or playing while that happens.

Pure coincidence mate. Had read nothing about Eriksen's personal problems prior to my posting. Also posted something very similar a few weeks back.

But come on fella, surely you too must have had your suspicions? He's been so awful for so long there just HAD to be something else going on with him. You could tell Poch was trying to protect him.

Yes its been difficult for all of us to stay behind him this last six months or so but over the years he's been an outstanding servant for the club and been pivotal in helping us get to where we are now, so imo he deserves our support and indulgence.

I just hope he can come through whatever it is he's having to deal with and get his life back on track.

Said it years ago when rumours were going about that one of our players was bi polar, he's a prime candidate. Turns out the rumours were about rose, which doesn't of course mean Eriksen isn't.
But there is as much evidence that he isn't to that he is.
As I said to steph h the evidence that you are using to dig me on is a lot more tenuous than what I'm stating for take on Eriksen situation.
The irony being of course that you doing exact same as you accuse me of.

I recall Eriksen having a dip in form last time his contract renewal came up.

if there are some severe personal circumstances / mental health issues affecting his performance, I would sympathise and feel as an employee we have a responsibility to support him but I don’t understand why he would be on the bench / playing the odd game if they had been shared with the current and previous coaches?

Other players don’t get a pass on here for the possibility of any outside circumstance affecting their game.
