I want him to do well at Southend...

So he can take another step towards the goon job...

Occasionally, while walking the dog, I fantasise about what I would do given infinite wealth. Thinking about Spurs is boring: it just involves giving the club enough money to do what it wants. The baroque scheme and subterfuges which see Campbell installed at Woolwich as owner-player-manager, believing that he is funded by a cabal of US entrepreneurs who know his worth and so have locked him in place on a twenty-year contract, and the ensuing crises and collapse, though, that lasts halfway round the park.

It's a shame that they're out of the FA Cup. Can you imagine what Mourinho would put him through if we played them?

I'd imagine he's not struggling for cash. As a football man, you would think he might understand what a football club being forced to close will do to its supporters and the local community.

I don't think his finances are relevant, he's obviously always been about the money rather than "a football man".

A wider point, as long as clubs keep getting away with it where is the incentive to ensure owners/custodians are competent?

The issue here is all of their own making, the owner obviously can't be arsed, and he employed a clam.
