Christian Eriksen

Interesting that opinions are so divided on this.

My take is that if he signs a new contract and gets back to his best, it would be great for the club. We know he can deliver in the PL - while not perfect, he has been an integral part of our resurgence under Poch, and considered one of the best midfielders in the league. If anything, for squad depth, why wouldn’t anyone take an in form and motivated Eriksen?

If he wants out and still doesn’t sign a new contract, or if Mourinho decides he's not a part of our future anyway, I want him gone in January. But if the manager change somehow motivates Eriksen to sign up, move on and regain his best form, it’s a pragmatic approach all day long for me.

Because he thinks he is too good for us. And because he has let his standards drop completely while he waits for his dream move.

Because he puts on the shirt, and then puts in terrible displays.

Because it shows he doesnt have the mentality to step up and perform. If the wind isnt blowing his way, he disappears.

And finally, because that level of disrespect should never be tolerated.

Theres a bit more to it than "Well if he plays well then great!"

For me at least. I couldnt give a fudge how well he plays from now, I want him gone ASAP

They arent that divided - from what I can see most on this forum, and pretty much everyone Ive spoke to in the 'real world' want him gone - He wants to leave, what is there to debate? It's practically impossible for him to come back from here, his form has been awful for quite some time and the only issue is who's going to take him as Im not sure the biggest clubs he envisaged leaving for sign players who have been poor for practically a year - but thats not really our problem anymore as we are unlikely to command a fee for him now anyway....

He only put in a performance last night because it was the CL and he was putting himself in the shop window.

Apologies if already stated.

wasnt much of a performance. He was workmanlike at best. Misplaced some passes and made some terrible crosses. His freekick was close, which makes a change lately. But his assist for Kanes 2nd was nice.

I really wish we knew what he has said to the management at Spurs. It still seems to me that he is 100% going, and that is based on what Jose said.

Would Madrid sign a player that early when there is a high chance their manager will leave in the summer?

Actually, yeah, sounds just like them.

We should offer them a loan swap in Jan for the rest of the season, they can have Eriksen and we'll pay his wages, Bale comes the other way and they pay his, financially they will be in the same boat but have player that is more use to them, same for us.

If that's true, do not play him for the rest of the season. He already has not been putting the effort in so why would he bother now

Example = Modric

We as a club are not in a position to bench a player that is one of the better CM players in Europe for the season because we are annoyed that he will leave.

The caveat is his performance level, if he doesn't perform, he won't play, if he does to close to his ability, then we would be stupid not to leverage.

People will talk about how he hasn't played well for a year, so has a good majority of this team. If Jose gets Eriksen to play to ability then he's an asset, if he doesn't, I have no worry that Jose will drop him.

Brain says i agree with this^^

Heart says stick him the under 12's and let them kick brick out of him until he leaves

I think the big difference between Modric and eriksen is mentality.
Modric is a proven winner with drive and ambition, Eriksen not so IMHO.
This last 12 months for Eriksen should have been the same as Modric last 12 months, instead of that's its been a damp squid.
