I think it's because we have nothing to fight for, I know it's early but Champions League qualifying looks a massive stretch. So when we lose it doesn't matter, even a win doesn't mean much. We're all used to every league game being pivotal but now they're not and everything is unpleasantly muted. We're in this drowned world while Poch does his dead man's walk.

I only think this season is a write-off if we continue doing the same strange things that we currently are i.e. with the manager selecting players who don’t want to be at the club and who are desperately out of form. If Poch - or, more probably, someone else - can pick the right team, play players in their most effective positions, and stop tinkering, we could quickly be back in the hunt for CL places.

My worry is that we will continue with Groundhog Day until such time as the season really is over.

I am glad you are not a Judge in a court of law. Look at the foul in isolation. Was it a red card?

The rest, Gomez elbow was in another phase of play. It was a possibly worse challenge than Son's but didn't get so much as a foul. Even if Son was getting back at him - which is impossible to say, and Son was already tearing into a challenge with the other Everton players before Gomez - you still have to judge only on the foul itself. Was it a red card challenge?

I've said repeatedly it wasn't a red card challenge. All I am saying, and it's a judgement call, is that I believe Son was deliberately trying to foul him but is not trying to injure him.

So we all agree. As did the Ref who clearly pulled out a Yellow card for Son. Then the hysterics kick in, and objective judgment goes out the window and Son gets a red! That is not just. And we leave with a point.

Think we need to side step the red, and the par for course (in the PL) brick ref/VAR.

Another poor performance against a poor side, 57+ minutes without a shot on target.

Eriksen, Dele, Lucas, Son all had bad games despite us have 60%+ possession for all but the last 10 minutes.

Bad selections, odd and late subs again, lead (however fortunate) squandered in yet another game.

That's just made up flimflam. He was bad, but he created the biggest chance of the game, that free kick that we were queuing up to stab in, but no one was determined enough to get on the end of it. Add to that, he got past players several times. One time he skipped past two in one lovely turn.

People just make up fake brick to fuel their agenda, and people jump on it instantly without checking the facts.

Even though we were not great, we have also had some bad luck on the road. Certain pen against Don not awarded and not a red card. 2 decisions which effectively cost us the win.

Well, not surprising that we still couldn't win away from home given our run eh?
I guess we might have to re-calibrate our expectations of this team and just be happy with a draw.

It is what it is

Noticed on a rewatch that Digne screams in the refs face going mental “he broke his f***in leg. Red card” several times. The ref then puts the yellow card away and pulls out the red.

VAR is just showing that a lot of refs are total c***s. Surely that’s exactly what the video replays are for.

What about the clear Pen they didn't get when Alli handled it?

Remember when the 'bad luck' we had was in a few games every few months, not every other game?
When you are constantly saying we didn't get this or that result because of 'bad luck' you know it's because you're not really very good

I didn't think any of the pen checks were penalties. Technically Alli's maybe was but he was being pushed about in the challenge and his arm wasn't really unnatural given the leap and player going into his head.

I thought Son's pen claim was more of a shout than Richarlison. Son's little jump and dive didn't look good. If he'd just stopped or gone down less theatrically maybe he gets that. He was obstructed multiple times by the defender throwing himself into Son. Sanchez makes contact but not enough to bring down or obstruct the player. Neither were pens imo.

but if the get the first one right it can change the game

Unless of course if we have the Penalty to erisken to take...

Do you mean change the game to mean we give up a two goal lead instead of one?:p

The constant excuses we give ourselves are never-ending it seems...

Goals change games
The timing of them is huge too
I’m still convinced had we had the penalty vs Saudi Sportswashing Machine like we should have we would have won and started with better form
The VAR call at Leicester has basically kick started their season too as it changed that game and the got important goals after it. Auriers goal gets allowed and we win that game IMO and again are in better form and shape

Goals indeed change games; the good teams are able to have those situations happen (whether for or against them) and still come out on top most times.

All those you list and how we keep bringing up such "what ifs" how much we have become our former selves...

So why wasn’t Tosun booked for:

1) Waving the imaginary card for Sanchez after Richarlison dived when through on goal?

Then..

2) Jumping into the crowd when he scored?

So ref missed a simple red card.

So many refereeing fudge ups - both for and against us - Atkinson must surely have had the worst game in his career in that match...against an already low bar.

I watched him particularly today . He doesn't attempt to block passes or tackle. His passing is off. Why is he playing? Dele is off form too but that may be partly because we are not playing to his strength. At least he is still working hard and scored a good goal. Eriksen is an utter clam. Week in week out.

Three seasons ago we beat Soton 4-1 away. I left still angry at Eriksen, who I felt was hiding and not delivering. I was told by someone who would know that he had “confidence” issues and that he was getting hair treatment to counter baldness (for purposes of coverage this was a “rumour”)...his contract was settled soon thereafter and his hair thicker. Make of it what you will. I haven’t trusted him for some time.

Atkinson is a cnut.
